Like every other hobbit, Bilbo Baggins likes nothing better than a quiet evening in his snug hole in the ground, dining on a sumptuous dinner in front of a fire. But when a wandering wizard captivates him with tales of the unknown, Bilbo becomes restless. Soon he joins the wizard’s band of homeless dwarves in search of giant spiders, savage wolves, and other dangers. Bilbo quickly tires of the quest for adventure and longs for the security of his familiar home. But before he can return to his life of comfort, he must face the greatest threat of all.

I am so excited to see unabridged versions of the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings Trilogy made available on Audible. Rob Inglis is simply the best narrator ever. He gives each character a unique voice and makes listening to these classics a delight!
All 4 books should be considered "must reads" for everyone.

In a case that spans 20 years, Harry Bosch links the bullet from a recent crime to a file from 1992, the killing of a young female photographer during the L.A. riots. Harry originally investigated the murder, but it was then handed off to the Riot Crimes Task Force and never solved. Now Bosch's ballistics match indicates that her death was not random violence, but something more personal, and connected to a deeper intrigue. Like an investigator combing through the wreckage after a plane crash, Bosch searches for the "black box", the one piece of evidence that will pull the case together.

    The narrator ruins this book.
The story line is good, but I'd rather be locked in a room listening to someone scratch a chalkboard than listening to this.
Mr. Connelly, please make the publisher (or whoever?) re-record this book with either Len Cariou, Dick Hill or Peter Giles as narrator. Your writing deserves better than this.
    :o)
    Thanks!

The case of Jarndyce and Jarndyce has ground its way through the courts for generations. At its heart are Ada Clare and Richard Carstone, who find love - and terrible loss - through their involvement in the endless battle. Meanwhile, her friend Esther Summeson, who believes she is an orphan, gradually discovers the truth of her identity. The court case throws out a web ensnaring all who come near it, including Lady Dedlock, the menacing lawyer Tulkingham, detective Bucket and tragic little waif Jo.

Having loved the BBC film version of this book, I decided to take a chance on all 37 hours of unabridged audio. SO GLAD I DID!!! Dickens truly has a way with words. The way in which he exposes so many social ills of his day, setting them against the gentle unassuming kindnesses of Mr. Jarndyce and Miss Summerson is remarkable. Except for Christmas Carol, this is my first Dickens "read." Now I plan to listen to all of them!
I would also like to say a word about the narrator, Hugh Dickson. This book has so many characters and Mr. Dickson was able to give a unique voice to each and every one. EXCELLENT NARRATOR! I plan to do a search at Audible to look for other works narrated by Mr. Dickson.
