In an abandoned mansion at the heart of Barcelona, a young man, David Martin, makes his living by writing sensationalist novels under a pseudonym. The survivor of a troubled childhood, he has taken refuge in the world of books and spends his nights spinning baroque tales about the city's underworld. But perhaps his dark imaginings are not as strange as they seem, for in a locked room deep within the house lie photographs and letters hinting at the mysterious death of the previous owner.

    "Very very good"
    Overall

This is a very good story, but it is for an intelligent reader and may not appeal to some. I enjoyed it thoroughly. Great story line and premise with a good finish. Spooky and heartfelt dont let the negative reviews detour you it is an excellent read.

In Christopher Moore's ingenious debut novel, we meet one of the most memorably mismatched pairs in the annals of literature. The good-looking one is one-hundred-year-old ex-seminarian and "roads" scholar Travis O'Hearn. The green one is Catch, a demon with a nasty habit of eating most of the people he meets.

colleen says: "I named my cat after the demon Catch"
    "Hilarious"

As always moore is hilarious, edgy and fun. Dont miss this book or for that matter any christopher moore books. Laugh out loud funny.

The town psychiatrist has decided to switch everybody in Pine Cove, California, from their normal antidepressants to placebos, so naturally - well, to be accurate, artificially - business is booming at the local blues bar. Trouble is, those lonely slide-guitar notes have also attracted a colossal sea beast named Steve with, shall we say, a thing for explosive oil tanker trucks.

Chris Robbins says: "Very funny, but perhaps not for everyone"
    "Hilarious, and original."
    Overall

Christopher Moore as always is hilarious, This is not meant for serious hearted and there are certainly moments you need to suspend belief, However your usually laughing to hard to care.
this like all moore's books is a fantasy, a fairy tale of gigantic proportion totally light and funny.

Bartimaeus, everyones favorite (wise-cracking) djinni, is back in book four of this best-selling series. As alluded to in the footnotes throughout the series, Bartimaeus has served hundreds of magicians during his 5,010 year career. Now, for the first time, fans will go back in time with the djinni, to Jerusalem and the court of King Solomon in 950s BC. Only in this adventure, it seems the great Bartimaeus has finally met his match.

    Alia says: "Quirky and Fun"
"The perfect family road trip book"
    Overall

First you will need to read books 1 through 3. that being said these are perfect to share with your kids. History, mystery, and good fun. The narration is excellent and the stories are good enough for both adult and child absolutely one of my favorite series.

For the first time in our history, scientists are uncovering astounding medical evidence about dieting -and why so many of us struggle with our weight and the size of our waists. Now researchers are unraveling biological secrets about such things as why you crave chocolate or gorge at buffets or store so much fat. Michael Roizen and Mehmet Oz, America's most trusted doctor team and authors of the best-selling YOU series, are now translating this cutting-edge information to help you shave inches off your waist.

Shawn Boyd says: "This Book is Dead On!!!"
    "Clear, common sense, science based."

I enjoyed that there was a little comedy thrown in to make it entertaining. I hate non-fiction but they kept my attention, and in very simple speak taught me what i needed to know. My husband the doctor overhearing the book in spurts said it was very science based no diet "theory" which is rare. so thumbs up.

No one wants to be a victim, but most find the event too hypnotic to ignore. In order to save their traveling carnival from bankruptcy, the Binewskis are creating their own brood of sideshow freaks. Under Al's careful direction, the pregnant Lil ingests radioisotopes, insecticides, and arsenic to make her babies "special".

    Cayora says: "Shudderingly Good!"
    "Fun, Weird, and Original."
    Overall

Definitely worth the credit, very original. Tired of yet another zombie, werewolf, vampire book I was looking for something original. It is a fantasy twist with wit and heart. The protagonist is pathetic but lovable. The story entertaining and twisty. I enjoyed it. However a warning for the tender eared, a few moments of foul language and crudity are sprinkled in.

She's taking rude, gullible Relentless, Inc., telemarketer Boyd Shreave and his less-than-enthusiastic mistress, Eugenie, into the wilderness of Florida's Ten Thousand Islands for a gentle lesson in civility. What she doesn't know is that she's being followed by her Honey-obsessed former employer.
