In his final hours in the Oval Office, the outgoing President grants a controversial last-minute pardon to Joel Backman, a notorious Washington power broker who has spent the last six years hidden away in a federal prison. What no one knows is that the President issues the pardon only after receiving enormous pressure from the CIA. It seems Backman, in his power broker heyday, may have obtained secrets that compromise the world's most sophisticated satellite surveillance system.

Cory says: "Best Grisham to date!"
    "Tedious to listen to"
    Overall

I have enjoyed many of Grisham's books over the years, but not this one. I found the plot to be dull and tedious. The Italian-English translation dialogue within is especially painful to endure. Someone gave me a hardcopy of the book while I was listening to the audio and I found the book much easier to bear than the audio because I could skim and skip the translations and other tedious parts. If you insist on reading this book, I would go for the hardcopy over the audio.

Pi Patel has been raised in a zoo in India. When his father decides to move the family to Canada and sell the animals to American zoos, everyone boards a Japanese cargo ship. The ship sinks, and 16-year-old Pi finds himself alone on a lifeboat with a hyena, an orangutan, a zebra with a broken leg, and a 450-pound Bengal tiger. Soon it's just Pi, the tiger, and the vast Pacific Ocean - for 227 days. Pi's fear, knowledge, and cunning keep him alive until they reach the coast of Mexico, where the tiger disappears into the jungle.

One of the best books I have ever read! The audio narration is outstanding. Very funny and magical book.
