I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. The Narrators really brought the characters to life for me and I was engaged through the entire book. I would definitely recommend this book to others.
I found myself drifting off during this book. There wasn't anything that really reached out and grabbed my attention. It's not a bad book or a great one.
I am a huge fan of KA. I went into this book with high expectations as the sneak peak I'd listed to at the end of "Own the wind" left me excited for Hop and Lanie's story.I read this book before I purchased the audible version and I can say this is one book where the audio version did not live up to my expectations. I think if Angela Starling had narrated this book it would have worked much better. Don't get me wrong Kate Russell worked really well in the Dream Man series but this pairing didn't work at all for me.
With that said I didn't listen to the full audio book because I couldn't get past the narrator but having read the book previously I can say this book does not stand out like "Own the Wind" (which I absolutely loved) but in many ways it still worked. I have read reviews that say there wasn't as much excitement in this book but I've come to expect that by listening to the Dream Series. I don't think each book has to be full of drama and/or excitement to be right for the characters. This book flowed well for me and while I wanted to slap Lanie and Hop a time or two It worked for me.
I felt like the first book flowed much better than the 2nd book. I kept waiting for something exciting to happen but nothing came.
I didn't connect with the characters in this book and I was really looking forward to seeing how their story worked out. The way the couple get back together didn't flow with the ending in book 1. What happened to the Amery I fell in love with?
I really wish they had used the same narrators as in the first book. The female vocals left a lot to be desired for me and killed some of the book for me.
I can't say this book made me jump up and down with excitement but it was an easy listen that flowed well and was a good resolution to their story.
If your looking for an easy book to listen to, that flows quickly without a lot of on the edge of your seat drama, this is definitely a good book to pick.
I listened to books 1-3 before I posted my review. This book was not my normal type of book but I was intrigued by the reviews on Amazon. I was immediately drawn into Gabe and Angelo's story and I enjoyed the journey from beginning to end. This book is definitely my favorite in the series. I didn't fall in love with book 2 or 3 but the chemistry in this story was captivating and I was rooting for the couple to find love. The thing that really made this story stand out for me was the emotion Gabe and Angelo gave to each other. They were willing to be venerable to each other and it was very refreshing.
Delaine drove me nuts, she was way to winey for my taste. I found myself forwarding through her parts.
I did like both narrators, they were what made this book.
Maybe it's this type of book has been done over and over and this wasn't anything unique for me or it was the wish washy characters but I couldn't get into this book or even finish the book.
This book was a complete miss for me. I was looking for a story that took me on a journey and characters that I could love or connect with. Emmy's character was lacking in personal boundaries and it really bothered me. If you don't like how Ben is a sex magnet then why would you have a threesome with him? If you don't like how he gets drunk and hangs out with people doing drugs why would you ignore the behavior? Emmy finally stiffens her spine when she finds out about Ben's past relationship and that provokes a reaction?? I don't buy into her at all.
And Ben, if you cherish your lady and want her for only yourself don't bring a buddy into your bed. You don't get trashed when you are expecting Emmy to meet you somewhere. You don't lie to Emmy. I won't even start on the situation with Fiona because it was very implausible to me.
On a positive note I did like the dual narrators and they did well.
For some reason this book was my least favorite of their story. I understand the idea of holding out for the wedding night but the scene at the rehearsal killed the entire book for me.
Perhaps I started this book with an idea of what caliber of book I was anticipating. I absolutely love Katy Evan's Remy and Sarah Castille Against the Ropes so I was expecting something similar. This book didn't excite me in any way. There was no witty dialog between the main characters, no relationship between the different fighters to bring you into this world and the chemistry between the characters was very off putting. I've listened to other books narrated by Rachel Fulginiti but I didn't find her a good fit for this book and perhaps that played into my blaahh feeling after listening to this book.
