I tried this book because it had so many good reviews and I have a friend who loves this author. I enjoyed the narrator but I just couldn't get into the story at all. I couldn't engage in this story and I am very disappointed as I was hoping to add a new author to my list.
If your looking for an easy book to listen to, that flows quickly without a lot of on the edge of your seat drama, this is definitely a good book to pick.
I listened to books 1-3 before I posted my review. This book was not my normal type of book but I was intrigued by the reviews on Amazon. I was immediately drawn into Gabe and Angelo's story and I enjoyed the journey from beginning to end. This book is definitely my favorite in the series. I didn't fall in love with book 2 or 3 but the chemistry in this story was captivating and I was rooting for the couple to find love. The thing that really made this story stand out for me was the emotion Gabe and Angelo gave to each other. They were willing to be venerable to each other and it was very refreshing.
Delaine drove me nuts, she was way to winey for my taste. I found myself forwarding through her parts.
I did like both narrators, they were what made this book.
Maybe it's this type of book has been done over and over and this wasn't anything unique for me or it was the wish washy characters but I couldn't get into this book or even finish the book.
This book was a complete miss for me. I was looking for a story that took me on a journey and characters that I could love or connect with. Emmy's character was lacking in personal boundaries and it really bothered me. If you don't like how Ben is a sex magnet then why would you have a threesome with him? If you don't like how he gets drunk and hangs out with people doing drugs why would you ignore the behavior? Emmy finally stiffens her spine when she finds out about Ben's past relationship and that provokes a reaction?? I don't buy into her at all.
And Ben, if you cherish your lady and want her for only yourself don't bring a buddy into your bed. You don't get trashed when you are expecting Emmy to meet you somewhere. You don't lie to Emmy. I won't even start on the situation with Fiona because it was very implausible to me.
On a positive note I did like the dual narrators and they did well.
For some reason this book was my least favorite of their story. I understand the idea of holding out for the wedding night but the scene at the rehearsal killed the entire book for me.
Perhaps I started this book with an idea of what caliber of book I was anticipating. I absolutely love Katy Evan's Remy and Sarah Castille Against the Ropes so I was expecting something similar. This book didn't excite me in any way. There was no witty dialog between the main characters, no relationship between the different fighters to bring you into this world and the chemistry between the characters was very off putting. I've listened to other books narrated by Rachel Fulginiti but I didn't find her a good fit for this book and perhaps that played into my blaahh feeling after listening to this book.
I was very much looking forward to Olivia & Nate's story and I was not disappointed. I love love love Brayden & Jos (not so much Jo & Cam) and I wasn't sure where the author would go with Olivia and Nate's story but I totally bought the HEA. I was glad this story didn't directly follow the previous 2 stories with a very dramatic experience to get over but rather how to get past loss. I believed in both of them and although I wanted to smack Olivia towards the end for being so stubborn I still loved their journey. Definitely worth the wait & listen.
Maya Banks is a hit or miss author for me; I either love or hate her work. I'm ambivalent about this book. I forwarded through much of this book as I felt like the main characters went on and on about everything and I was bored. I don't believe in the "I've only known you 2 days and I love you". It wasn't realistic at all to me. I didn't get to take a journey with the couple as they fell in love. I agree with another reviewer that the "misunderstanding" situation was overdone. I saw it coming a mile away. As a person who appreciates the journey of earning someone's trust after they've been through some hard situations in this life I didn't believe that all 3 of the siblings trusted Donovan and his family within hours. For example; Eve was prepared to run away in the night to prevent Donovan from bringing a doctor by to see her sister but she's in the sac with him right away and in love? I definitely didn't buy into his book at all.
On a positive note Adam Paul did a great job narrating the book as usual.
I am a fan of J Kenner but I had to listen to the first chapters a couple times to understand what was going on and after an hour into the book I finally give up. I cannot connect to this book at all. I feel like the book is all over the place.
I pre-ordered this book as soon as it was available and waited on pins and needles anticipating the 3rd book in the series. I enjoyed Rule & Jet's stories so I was excited to hear about Rome and Cora's story. This book did not let me down. I loved the interactions between Rome & Cora; I laughed and smiled often and I was wrapped up in their story from beginning to end. I felt like there was less angst in this book than the prior 2 books but I definitely didn't get the 3rd book letdown like I have in other series. Well worth the wait and the credit. I can't wait to hear Nash's story next.
