"At first I thought this was fiction..."
I came across this as a recommended book by audible and coincidentally had also just received my first pair of Vibram five fingers shoes from a friend who took pity on my blistered feet from barefoot running. The book was an eye opener on my personal mission to eliminate shoes from my life and an inspiration to someone who once weight 260 lbs.
What surprised me the most was it WASN'T fiction. there are real people really doing these things from this book. most have real blogs and I was never bored throughout the book. this will be in my arsenal of reading in both audible and paper back as I move into the test of a lifetime and try to become an ultra runner.
"Interesting and plausible"
Although written in the 60s this book has a plausible branch of truth to it. The book was not the usual dribble of easily guessable plot twists and held my attention for the most part. I rate it 4 for the content and a 3 for ease of reading (I was bored on occasion).
"It was ok..."
I liked the book but the narrator made it feel like a cheesy crime novel with the voices; normally I'm a big fan of it but his female voices were horrid and that SQUAK! made it hard to follow, I found I was going back often just to catch what was said.
Overall content was good, story has some holes but I'm willing to try the next book just to see.
"great book, writer is a litte wack!"
this was an awesome book, but the author was/is just a character. i also, cannot wait until the next volume.
"Good historical fiction"
I got this due to my wife's recommendation for a "different" book. The author did a fair job working the story, I was a little lost at first, but caught on quickly (still new to audio books).
the story line keeps well with the 1600's view on witches and witchcraft. intersting facts, and different points of view help keep the book interesting and moving. I also approve of the narrator, whose voice was easy to follow.
overall a 4 star, not my prefered type of book, but good.
