Between America's retreat from China in late November 1941 and the moment General MacArthur's airplane touched down on the Japanese mainland in August of 1945, five men connected by happenstance fought the key battles of the war against Japan.

Well you don't have to read it and you can listen to it at work or school if you are really bold. Peter Giles has a unique way of making the characters come to life.

Jack Ryan has only just moved back into the Oval Office when he is faced with a new international threat. An aborted coup in the People's Republic of China has left President Wei Zhen Lin with no choice but to agree with the expansionist policies of General Su Ke Quiang. They have declared the South China Sea a protectorate and are planning an invasion of Taiwan. The Ryan administration is determined to thwart China’s ambitions, but the stakes are dangerously high as a new breed of powerful Chinese anti-ship missiles endanger the US Navy's plans to protect the island.

What made the experience of listening to Threat Vector the most enjoyable?

Lou Diamond Phillips did an outstanding job. Though there is only so many conflicts that Jack Ryan can save the US from. And it was much more exciting the first time around.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

I believe he took the ending from Sum of all Fears but put another enemy that hasn't yet learned to respect the Re Elected Jack Ryan.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No, I would recommend all the other Tom Clancy, Jack Ryan books before this one. This one has more to do with war and how its called from all the departments then is a spy novel... It was very smart of him to go back to writing spy novels!

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Probably insert Jack Ryan... I did think that this was a Jack Ryan book so that is maybe why I was so annoyed!
