When a dying boy is pulled from the river with a mark crudely tattooed on his shoulder, hangman Jakob Kuisl is called upon to investigate whether witchcraft is at play in his small Bavarian town. When more children disappear and an orphan is found dead with the same mark, the mounting hysteria threatens to erupt. Before the unrest forces him to torture and execute the woman who aided in the birth of his children, Jakob must unravel the truth.

I love the medieval era books. This first book was jst a shot in the dark as i dont have a new author yet to follow. This one was suggested on the home screen as a must read so i gave it a chance and have since listened to the whole series. You wont b disappointed! if you are a fan of Ken Follett i really think you will like this. If you do like this and have not had the chance to read ken follett i advise you to do so.

In 1836, when she was nine years old, Cynthia Ann Parker was kidnapped by Comanche Indians. This is the story of how she grew up with them, mastered their ways, married one of their leaders, and became, in every way, a Comanche woman. It is also the story of a proud and innocent people whose lives pulsed with the very heartbeat of the land. It is the story of a way of life that is gone forever.

This book was pretty good but the narration of Gabriel's voice was a little to b desired. It actually made me giggle a little because it sounds like a terrible Sean Connery. I was able to overlook that but it was a little annoying.

Judith Hampton was as beautiful as she was proud and loyal. Her dear Scottish friend from childhood was about to give birth, and Judith had promised to be at her side. But there was another reason for the journey from her bleak English home to the Highlands: to meet the father she had never known, the Laird Maclean. Nothing prepared her, however, for the sight of the Scottish barbarian who was to escort her into his land...Iain Maitland, laird of his clan, a man more powerfully compelling than any she had ever encountered.
