Entertaining look at the future of the world through the eyes of Niven. Much of the story involves the interaction of the main character with the computer he shares his shop with. This could get stale, but Niven keeps the story moving.

I am baffled by the overwhelmingly positive reviews this novel has received. The writing style is very uneven. Much of the novel reads more like a screen play with stage direction then in slides into a novel and back again. The story plods along and just when you believe it might get interesting it fizzles out and is finished.

Nice entertaining listen. Not a terribly complex story, but it holds your attention. Interesting commentary on modern society.

I bought this book for my grandkids, but fortunately I listened to it first. Padovan is abysmal as a narrator. I do believe a 5th grader out of any random school would have done a better job. The narration was so grating it was hard to follow the story. Buy the book if you want to follow this story.

The story moved very slowly at first and so it took me awhile to get into it. I almost gave up, but it does pick-up and develops into a good story. It is an interesting take on the work of H G Wells. If you are a fan of Wells stick with the story. It is worth it in the end.

I am truly baffled by the postive reviews. I found the story plodding and totally unengaging. None of the characters are in anyway compelling. It is difficult to believe that they could live to such great ages with maturing. In a word boring.

I have read all of Morton's novels and loved them, but I admit I had trouble getting wrapped-up in this story to begin wth. None of the characters drew me to them. Each seemed to be deeply flawed. Don't give-up if you feel the same. It takes awhile but in the end Morton does not disappoint.

I could not recommend the story or the narrator. The story is essentially a teenage girl reading her diary as she writes it. Despite the fact that it is a teenage girl the narrator manages to make her sound like an old woman. The story is about as interesting as an real teenage girl's diary. None of the characters are engaging and really nothing happens. You get a lot of reviews of older science fiction works since the main character has a penchant for SF, and sad to say that is actually the most interesting part of the book. Save your credit and go elsewhere.

The narratorstries so hard to have a Welsh accent that she ends up sounding like the old witch the main character claims her mother is.

Two of the most engaging characters I have come across in a while. Engaging and fun. Can't wait to read more in the series.

Loved the first four books. They are absolutely the best series I have read, but this book was not worth the wait. Over half way through and nothing much has happened. It just drones on.
