The narrator is wonderful! I have never heard a female narrator do so many different characters - especially men - so well. I always knew who was talking by the voice. If you like a good plot, strong characters, an interesting steampunk story and lots of fun - even when the moment is tense - you will love this series. I sometimes found myself laughing out loud as I listened. I am actually considering listening to the whole series again when I'm done - something I have never done before - that is how good this series is.
If you don't know anything about Cleopatra and her time, this is interesting from a mostly historical perspective. However, if you are looking for an engaging, interesting read, this doesn't fit the bill. It is dry, mostly told as a story rather than an experience, with most of the action taking place in third person. Most of the interesting stuff happens off stage, if you will, and she makes mention of it in her memoir. Also, Cleopatra is portrayed here as a not-so-interesting character, but with a lot of insight and introspective evaluation. Admittedly, this book didn't hold my attention past the first download (there are 7 total), so maybe if I had stuck it out it would have gotten more engaging. However, I am a busy person and have vowed not to waste my precious time on things that are less than great as this is.
