Lacey Terwilliger's shock and humiliation over her husband's philandering prompt her to add some bonus material to Mike's company newsletter: stunning Technicolor descriptions of the special brand of "administrative support" his receptionist gives him. The detailed mass e-mail to Mike's family, friends, and clients blows up in her face, and before one can say "instant urban legend", Lacey has become the pariah of her small Kentucky town and a media punch line....

Witty, sassy and charming. I wish she has written or has in spoken word more stories that do not involve vampires. The narrator is spot on and is so believable. The narrator is Lacey the character.... I forget there's a narrator at all.

Moving from Wisconsin to sunny Los Angeles was the frosting on the cake of Annie Graceland's perfect life. Her boutique bakery business was blossoming, she was happily married to a handsome, ambitious actor, and they were planning to have a baby. Besides her derelict friends, the only thing that got Annie in serious trouble was her smidge of psychic ability: feeling other people's sensations in her own body. She hated experiencing someone else's peanut butter addiction, foot fetish, or murderous rage.

Why are you captivated by some people but not by others? Why do you recall some brands yet forget the rest? In a distracted, overcrowded world, how do certain leaders, friends, and family members convince you to change your behavior? Answer: fascination, the most powerful way to influence decision-making. It's more persuasive than marketing, advertising, or any other form of communication. And it all starts with seven universal triggers: lust, mystique, alarm, prestige, power, vice, and trust.

"Gideon Cross came into my life like lightning in the darkness… He was beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white-hot. I was drawn to him as I’d never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily…Gideon knew. He had demons of his own. And we would become the mirrors that reflected each other’s most private wounds…and desires."

This book was an entirely different animal and unexpectedly insightful into a sector of our culture that is prominent and misunderstood. Personally, I haven't been able to comprehend the emotional reach and bend of so many of the people around me that are widespread practice of silence. Sylvia makes poetry and shows an internal landscape that is spellbinding to listen to in audio form and creates a new genre of story in my book... I am not sure what to name it. Since there is a subset genre of psychological thrillers... I would perhaps call this genre psychological romance, perhaps. The dialogue/communication is exemplary.

When Barry Fairweather dies unexpectedly in his early 40s, the little town of Pagford is left in shock. Pagford is, seemingly, an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, but what lies behind the pretty façade is a town at war. Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils.... Pagford is not what it at first seems. And the empty seat left by Barry on the town's council soon becomes the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet seen.

    Story

After reading the reviews I thought I better put on my own "hat" of curious listening of an old friend.... a friend that wrote unprecedented and captivating youth fiction who's deciding to speak her own dark opinion and mind in a more adult audience.

In my listening I considered also that she has traversed the sorting of classes and has in some ways transcended all the classes unto herself, in some ways, especially in England, I get the feeling it is impossible to transcend the class system entirely... the tragedy and comedy of this irremovable.... and this is her expression, some of her therapy just as the Potter books were for her.

So, again, I put on my curiosity "hat" and decided to see the big picture of Rowling, the world, politics, fiction, my own suburban life where it is I am stuck with certain realities and where the dangers of just going along and being in the doldrums indefinitely and were it is that even with effort how luck is needed to see through and step beyond the new polarity of classism burgeoning here in our own back yard.

I feel a thoughtful read, an approach of continuously asking why it is she is choosing these bends in fiction now that she doesn't have to please a publisher and get approval but has free reign... to take a refreshing curious approach to dark comedy is already an oxymoron in itself but it really worked for me in hearing this well spoken book.

I must admit, the political side of adult life is not nearly as exciting as to read of children and youth.... this book inspires me to keep working at keeping myself young at heart in part in fear of the tragedy of becoming dull and vacant. This book is plenty good if I bring my own good sharp mind of curiosity and dialogue with the author as I listen and ask... who am I in this story were I inserted into it? How would that be for everyone there? In my own backyard? For this alone it is worth it.... she is like iron; as it is said "iron sharpens iron"... this is the approach I think bears good fruit in good listening.

I do look forward to her next novel and do hope for something entirely different yet again and also do expect a fond inclusion of the relevance of children as a part of the main thread throughout her next story.

It is Nick and Amy Dunne's fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick's clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn't doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media - as well as Amy's fiercely doting parents - the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he's definitely bitter - but is he really a killer?

That we all have these dark traits and if that dark side is the one living our lives this is what those lives would look more like in our own neighborhoods. This grotesqueness tempered not by intelligence but by the grace of kindness we take for granted.

If you are wishing to hear some new unexpected insights into the nature of Capricorn in 4 minutes; then this is not that novelty for you.

Basically a summary of what you hear is the basic attributes of this fair sign in the annals of most writing on the matter.... and then speaks to following the very nature of the sign itself as the form of stress relief. I suppose that makes sense; what else could it be? The delivery is concise, professional and as far as the narration, I couldn't complain at all.

New York book editor Maris Matherly-Reed knows a best seller when she sees one - even if it is just a tantalizing partial manuscript submitted by a writer identified only as P.M.E., with the return address of an obscure island off the Georgia coast. Maris is intrigued enough to search for him.

After years of being an audiofile this book and narrator is a chick lit favorite for me. Perfect reader, perfect cadence. Well written. I have not been nearly as fond of Sandra Browns other novels besides this one. Sure, I've listened to a few, and this one is in it's very own class outshining most chick lit cozies as the sun to a candle.
