And when his cruel web of deceit and destruction threatens those she cares for most, Eve fights back. It's her city...it's her job...and it's hitting too close to home. Now, in a race against a ticking clock, Eve must make the pieces fit - before the city falls.

I am totally engaged in listening to Susan Ericksen's narration of this series. She manages to show the personalities of the characters so well!! I have listened to the first "in death" book up to this one all in order. It's been fun to see how Peabody develops as a great cop and how Eve and Roark's relationship evolves. I laugh out loud at some of their conversations, but there is always that sincere love for each other that keeps me wanting to listen to the next book! Keep up the good work J D Robb and Susan Ericksen!!

After a tip from a reporter, Eve Dallas finds the body of a young woman in a Delancey Street dumpster. Just hours before, the news station had mysteriously received a portfolio of professional portraits of the woman. The photos seemed to be nothing out of the ordinary for any pretty young woman starting a modeling career - except that she wasn't a model.

    "outstanding!"
    Overall

This series always keeps me wanting more of Eve Dallas, Roark and all the other characters the author uses to spice up the plot. Susan Erickson does a fantastic job changing her narration with each character! It is almost mesmerizing to listen to her portray Eve and Roark's relationship during good and bad times in their marraige. I have listened to all books in this series in order so far and this one really showed some tender moments as Roark finds out about his family in Ireland. It's truely amusing to hear Eve's reaction when Peabody talks about being intimate with McNab!!! I had to chuckle out loud!! This story kept me entertained for many miles on a long trip this summer from Arizona to South Dakota.

Eve Dallas is a New York police lieutenant hunting for a ruthless killer. In over 10 years on the force, she's seen it all - and knows that her survival depends on her instincts. And she's going against every warning telling her not to get involved with Roarke, an Irish billionaire - and suspect in Eve's murder investigation. But passion and seduction have rules of their own, and it's up to Eve to take a chance in the arms of a man she knows nothing about - except the addictive hunger of needing his touch.

    "WOW!! Sexy and Suspenseful!"

I have read many books by Nora Roberts and couldn't put them down, but I thought the futuristic setting of this series would be hard to relate to. I WAS WRONG!! I have gotten so absorbed with Eve and her love life with rich and sexy Roark that I had to get the next 4 titles all at the same time from Audible. I listen to them while I piece together quilts.Matching fabrics and listening to Susan Erickson's narration is what retirement was meant to be!
