"why on earth would anyone read an abridged version"
i didn't notice the ABRIDGED warning.
the sound and production are great. good quality, good narrator.. however, how could anyone miss out on all the other stories which arn't given here? why on earth would you bother listening to half the story?
"a great read for the atheist christophiles.."
the author addresses all the issues which touch upon the question, but also explains why they are (or arn't) important. both mythicists views and the life of Jesus, the jewish apocalyptic preacher are explored, and it was scholarly enough to get me reading more. i wish the "works cited" of the book was also available somewhere for further reading.
"Great source!"
a fun and easy source to get thinking on why we say the things we say..
"a tough call."
this is a really tough one to review. very informative on the one hand, yet bad quality of recording and it isn't very appealing to the ear or the interest buds. i think i only survived through the listen because i really like the subject. if you're just starting to look into the middle ages, i wouldn't start with this one. it is basically a university course that someone recorded, and didn't even bother to digitally remaster or take off the white noise.
"funny at times but mostly when she quotes others"
this book is like an extended blog, which could've been tolerated if it wasn't for her voice. it's just not pleasant to listen to her voice. the story itself is actually not very consistent or interesting, as it is too personal. i would probably be much more impressed if i bothered to read it rather than listen to it.
"brilliant! couldn't stop listening!"
don't let yourselves down. you know you want it. just hit "add to cart" and get listening. it's that good.
