Meet Anita Thompson: she's young, she's lovely, she's clever, and she's a witch. A real one. Anita lives in two worlds: the modern world of supermarkets and sports cars, radio and rock-and-roll, where she is a thoroughly modern girl with a thoroughly modern interest in boys and fast living and her own independence. But she also lives in the ancient and rustic world of traditions, cauldrons, and familiars.

It has all the indicators of possibly being a good set of characters, world and story but it just didn't quite do it for me. I stopped half way through as the pattern of story seemed to repeat.

I was looking forward to a whole lot of short stories as i have been listening to some epic multi-book serieses. So initially i was wrapped as it was exactly what i wanted but it just didn't grow on me and seem to be repetative.

The orator was good and the feel of the story was good but....

No Explosions, well some but it is not an action filled stpory with constant twists and turns but a well written tale of an unusual person who discovers their power and abilities in a time when they are needed. More along the lines, where a world is created whilst a story is told; whilst you seem to be a part of the story.

Brilliant, i will be a fan of the series and author!

People have been telling stories about warriors for as long as they have been telling stories... Our contributors make up an all-star lineup of award-winning and bestselling writers, representing a dozen different publishers and as many genres. We asked each of them for the same thing - a story about a warrior. Some chose to write in the genre they’re best known for. Some decided to try something different. You will find warriors of every shape, size, and color here....

Great, Short Sharp Stories, all with something to tell; all looking at different type of Warriors. And due to all the different authors you really do get a varied and interesting variety of similar based but very different characters. Well worth the read and good value even if it cost twice as much.

Actually, that part put me off a bit. At times it seemed like it was all about bed play. I am not a prude and don't mind some explicid descriptions, yet these seemed repetative and, for my part, unimagenative.

OK, that out of the way, the story of a race of people who may have been the source of the Vampire legend, how they live and how they can turn into the ugly type of vampire and how there is only two choice, Die or... well that's the story.

I wouldn't read a 2nd book in this series, but i well enjoyed this book. I don't know if i will look at a lot of books from this author.

It was a miracle of science that permitted human beings to live, if not forever then for a long, long time. Some people, anyway. The rich, the powerful, they lived their lives at the rate of one year every 10. Some created two societies: that of people who lived out their normal span and died, and those who slept away the decades, skipping over the intervening years and events. It allowed great plans to be put into motion. It allowed interstellar empires to be built.

I don't like stories that start in the middle and then do flashbacks; can be very irritating; but this one could not have been differently. It is a very unusual story that slowly unfolds and spans the life of a 50 year old man who lives for 10's of thousands of years.

If you are looking for an unuisal Sifi that has little or no techno and focuses on the story of two races of people, and is quite ... morish, this is it. If you need a change from the usual; go for it!

I can't say that there is anything particularly special or unique about the story. Our Hero genetically modified and empathic, her sentient Tree Cat, A devious and often treacherous enemy....hmmmm.

Having completed the 12th book (i think) i am eagerly awaiting the 13th. The whole series is brilliantly .... choreographed with excellent supporting character, clever storyline, mini plots and very well paced development of the "honorverse".

The narrator was also well chosen and significantly added (for me) to the enjoyment of the whole series starting with this book!

Atticus O’Sullivan, last of the Druids, lives peacefully in Arizona, running an occult bookshop and shape-shifting in his spare time to hunt with his Irish wolfhound. His neighbors and customers think that this handsome, tattooed Irish dude is about twenty-one years old - when in actuality, he’s twenty-one centuries old. Not to mention: He draws his power from the earth, possesses a sharp wit, and wields an even sharper magical sword known as Fragarach, the Answerer. Unfortunately, a very angry Celtic god wants that sword, and he’s hounded Atticus for centuries....

A combination of the somewhat weird and normal country US living, blended together to set a world where almost nothing is impossible including a 2100 year old Druid with his life extended and very funny back chatting Dog.

The combination of characters and story line could have gone wrong, but it didn't. Very good story line, well told, with enough quirk and humor to make this good listing,

There are several books in this series and this first book is a very good read and leads you into the following book exceedingly well.

Hanging out for the next book.

Mags was a Trainee in the Heraldic Collegium in Haven, Valdemar’s capital city. Though his background of poverty and abuse at Cole Pieters’ gem mine set him apart from most other trainees, nonetheless he had found his own group of friends. Bear, Lena, and Amily were all students whose situations in life set them apart from more usual Trainees. The four of them had found mutual support in their shared misfortunes, and together struggled to help one another find solutions to their individual problems.

I am a great fan of the Collegium world having read everything available on Audible and beyond so the following comes from a fans point of view.

    Brilliant!

Starting with Valdemar: Collegium Chronicles, Book 1 and continuing through Valdemar: Collegium Chronicles, Book 2, this book completes a segment that covers a period in the World of Valdemar. The whole series spans several ages of Valdemar beginning with this series of 3 books. Along the way the Collegium grows to 1000's of Heralds, the war with Karsits, the Mage heralds and the appearance of the Sons Cats. All the books are in the same environment but there are many vastly different main characters. And it is not really necessary to read them in any order, although it is best to start here.

If you are like me, once you read this, you will want all the other books. But be warned, they are not all available as Audio Recordings.

Hundreds of years before the time of Imager, the continent of Lydar is fragmented. Years of war have consolidated five nations into three-Bovaria, Telaryn, and Antiago. Quaeryt is a scholar and friend of Bhayar, the young ruler of Telaryn. Worried about his future and the escalating intrigues in Solis, the capital city, Quaeryt persuades Bhayar to send him to Tilbor.

In a time (seemingly) before the previous 3 books and totally independent of those (to my mind), Scholar start of slowly but steadily. That said, this is another story i could not easily put down. Modesitt weaves a world and story in tradition of the best Wordsmiths and the narration of Dufris suits the style and adds to the ambiance.

Although it is all one story line, many sub-plots and characters are woven into the telling and most of them add up to the intimate ending in some way. It is uncanningly interesting in a quiet and steady way.

Having already read the 5th book which follows this one, i am hanging out for the 6th book.

Killing used to be my regular gig, after all. Gin Blanco, aka the Spider, assassin-for-hire. And I was very, very good at it. Now, I'm ready to make the one hit that truly matters: Mab Monroe, the dangerous Fire elemental who murdered my family when I was 13. Oh, I don't think the mission will be easy, but turns out it's a bit more problematic than expected. The bitch knows I'm coming for her. So now I'm up against the army of lethal bounty hunters Mab hired to track me down. She also put a price on my baby sister's head. Keeping Bria safe is my first priority.

    Story

After the climatic completion of Book for where the Spider destroyed the Fire Elemental, many aspects of the books characters were left hanging. The relationship of the sister, they boyfriend and many others. I was hoping that the 5th book would start to round-off these with some added action but....

The book starts very promising, where our Hero-Assasin (retired) is talked into a holiday with family (so to say). But soon enough, possibly in the 1st chapter the story goes into established patterns and the focus again become a new Super Bad Guy Vamp ala Donald Trump.

Yet, Jennifer's story telling and the narration of Lauren kept me interested to the very end and beyond. I like stepping back into this world where the supernatural is normal, where i am familiar with my family of characters, even if they are Assassins and Cleaners and Con artists. It is my family.

I hope that the 6th book starts rounding of some of the relationships and finds a bit of a different story line, a smoother super villain that need putting down; a higher focus on the characters. But even if it doesn't, i will still get it and read it as Jennifer world of Spider is simply moreish, especially when paired with an excellent narration of Lauren!
