I have listened to all of Tana French's books. I absolutely loved The Likeness and Faithful Place. and In the Woods was very good. This title is more in line with In the Woods. I enjoyed it, but I didn't feel complete at the end. In the Woods and Broken Harbor both left me wanting a little more from the story.
If you listened to and liked her other books; give this one a shot, but don't expect this to be as good. If you haven't listened to her books, I would start with The Likeness.
This book was clumsily written, predictable pulp. The dialogue was so horrible that it was painful to listen to. About two thirds of the way through the story, it actually took a decent turn and the writing was at least palatable. For a little while, I thought that I may get the next book in the series, also. Then, the story plunged deeper into the predictable, clumsy dialogue that plagued the beginning.
The narration was okay, and his voice was good. The problem is that narration is supposed to give more life to the characters and story, but in this case, it just proved that there is no life in the story.
I felt no connection to any of the characters.
