"Enjoyable"
Yes, this is a nice light fantasy book that grabs the readers attention quickly
The narrator did great with the main character but narration of some of the other characters could have been better. Too many pauses with some of the male characters, making the characters seem as though they are mentally challenged. Also, sometimes the narrator speaks so softly I miss what she said and have rewind to catch it. She also speaks too fast, which takes away from some of the funny parts of the story.
Yes, great story with witty and funny storyline.
"Thought provoking"
I quickly tired of the post apocalyptic genre, but this one goes far beyond the typical storyline. The story, situations, and characters are completely believable and I could not stop listening from the start. I would not recommend going to the grocery store after listening to One Second After - you will have the urge to stockpile.
"Excellent"
This book is one that will stick with me for a long time. I have seen the movie several times but never took the time to read the book. I had no idea what I was missing out on! Understanding psychiatric illness from a patient's perspective so completely is a rare experience and one that I would recommend to anyone. John Reilly did an excellent job narrating, capturing the characters so that the listener is drawn in.
When Chief finally talked.
I wouldn't make a film of this book, as I don't think a remake would top the original film.
I rarely write reviews, but this one just begged for comment. It was moving at times and hilarious at times. I can understand why it is considered a modern classic.
"Great listen"
This is not your typical zombie story. I laughed most of the way through it and it caught my attention from the beginning.
I do not recall ever having heard Allison McLemore prior to this audiobook. For this book, she is one of those narrators who nails the southern accent and the listener is drawn in with no distractions.
I really liked this book, it's light and funny and keeps your attention throughout. I got tired of the zombie genre pretty quick, but this one is a keeper and I plan to buy the next book in this series.
"Another great one"
This was another great Ice and Fire book. As always, the story was great. My only gripe is the narrator. I never realized how much better the story was with a different narrator until I hear John Lee narrate book 4. Roy Dotrice does a good job but his character voices are limited and it just seemed to flow better with John Lee.
"Excellent story, poor narrator"
This story is very well written with lots of witty dialogue and action. The only downside is the narrator, his character voices are terrible and inflection is a bit annoying. However, if you like this genre as much as I do, the story is certainly worth listening to and I would recommend it.
"Loved it"
I absolutely loved this book. It has everything - action, humor, supernatural, mystery, and romance. I found myself laughing out loud on my way to work many times. Would highly recommend it.
"Excellent"
Wonderful book! I couldn't stop listening and found myself sneaking out during my luch break to eat in my car and listen.
