Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden is Chicago's only openly practicing wizard. He is also dead broke. His vast knowledge and magical skills are unfortunately matched by his talent for making powerful enemies and alienating friends. With little more than his integrity left, he accepts an offer of work from Lt. Karin Murphy of Chicago's Special Investigations Unit. He wants to redeem himself in Murphy's eyes and make enough money to quiet his rumbling stomach.

I found Harry Dresden always feeling responsible for all of the other free-willed adults in the book, really really annoying. Couldn't stop myself from yelling at him whenever he started ruminating on his predicaments and how everyone else was in the position they were because of him. How self-centered. I rather like the character of Karen Murphy and was hoping she'd kick his butt, and if she did I'd continue the series. But my annoyance level is so high, I don't see myself enjoying any more of the series if the main character continues this way. I like the narrator, except for all the close up breathing and swallowing noises. Bummed I didn't like this more. Was looking forward to enjoying the series.

Meet Emily and Paul: The parents of two young children, Emily is the newly promoted VP of marketing at a large corporation while Paul works from home or from clients' offices as an independent IT consultant. Their lives, like all of ours, are filled with a bewildering blizzard of emails, phone calls, yet more emails, meetings, projects, proposals, and plans. Just staying ahead of the storm has become a seemingly insurmountable task.

I love the info in this book. I kept thinking, "Yes!" as the author was reviewing ways our brains work and how to manage our thinking and time, because I have found I have to manage myself just the same way. I have been caught going down all the rabbit trails he mentions. Fascinating. My only trouble was that the reader, who has a great voice, speaks with an odd cadence and inflection, so I had difficulty staying focused on the material. Great info, still. Worth the listen.

    "Great system! Love this book"
    Overall

I love this book. Totally helped me pull all of my different trails of thoughts, ideas, projects, commitments, and "stuff" together into one system. Helps me really look at it all and make good decisions about what I want to be doing. I love that it's an audiobook and I can keep listening to it - each time I do I hear something new. I did find I wanted to to look at a free on-line PDF for some of the illustrations/graphics he references, maybe 3 or 4 in the whole book. So I do think some visuals help support it, but this is a book that works well in audio. Good sound quality. So glad I own it!!!

Further Along the Road Less Traveled takes the lectures of Dr. Peck and presents his profound insights into the issues that confront and challenge all of us today: spirituality, forgiveness, relationships, and growing up. In this aid for living less simplistically, you will learn not to look for the easy answers but to think multidimensionally. You will learn to reach for the "ultimate step," which brings you face to face with your personal spirituality.

This is actually a recorded lecture by Dr. Peck. The recording quality is good. A few stories and some Christian theory - I'm not Christian but I did find this interesting. It does not contain many tips or guidance for increasing your own self-love, which I found a little disappointing. So overall I thought it was interesting, but not very helpful.
