Tender Branson, the last surviving member of the so-called Creedish Death Cult, is dictating his life story into the flight recorder of Flight 2039, cruising on autopilot at 39,000 feet somewhere over the Pacific Ocean. He is all alone in the airplane, which will crash shortly into the vast Australian outback. But before it does, he will unfold the tale of his journey from an obedient Creedish child and humble domestic servant to an ultra-buffed, steroid-and-collagen-packed media messiah.

Tender Branson is the sole surviving member of a religious cult whose doctrine commands you to commit suicide.
I would class this as black comedy. Palahniuk once again delivers an highly entertaining and original story. I stayed up all night just to see where this was going. Starting at the end of the story and finishing at the beginning , this book just keeps you guessing.
I would highly recommend this book if you are looking for a book with guts and a deep story.
Not for the easily offended or faint of heart.

Summer. Massachusetts. An old Silver Wraith with a frightening history. A story about one serial killer and his lingering, unfinished business.Anyone could be next. We're going to Christmasland . . .NOS4A2 is an old-fashioned horror novel in the best sense. Claustrophobic, gripping and terrifying, this is a story that will have you on the edge of the seat while you read, and leaving the lights on while you sleep.

The story jumps around too much. One minute it is from the dogs perspective then all of a sudden its the cat. A bit too confusing without an explanation. Also some weird rat religious stuff. Just weird but if you are anything like me you will give it a go because there are zombies

In the small town of Ptolemy, darkness is a living thing. A powerful thing. Its home is in the shadows of a bizarre, hidden club named Penumbra, where it is worshipped by followers who need the pleasure it gives them. They are addicted to it. They live for it. And they kill for it. When Aaron was first introduced to Penumbra, he thought it was just a secret club where members could indulge their kinkier fantasies. Bit by bit, as he learned the club's true purpose, he began to change in subtle, horrible ways.

I chose to ignore the reviews and listen to this one anyway. Bad decision! I hate hearing saliva noises in the narrators mouth and there is a lot of that. Besides that its a pretty shallow story on a subject i've seen before

I bought this because I like the narrator and I figured it would be a simple story to pass the time. It was so much more than that. Unpredictable , unique and refreshing . I was forced to reconsider this author as a seriously good storyteller. Nicely done

In the Tall Grass begins with a sister and brother who pull off to the side of the road after hearing a young boy crying for help from beyond the tall grass. Within minutes they are disoriented, in deeper than seems possible, and they've lost one another. The boy's cries are growing more and more desperate. What follows is a terrifying, entertaining, and masterfully told tale, as only Stephen King and Joe Hill can deliver.

One Christmas Eve in a small hollow in Boone County, West Virginia, struggling songwriter Jesse Walker witnesses a strange spectacle: seven devilish figures chasing a man in a red suit toward a sleigh and eight reindeer. When the reindeer leap skyward, taking the sleigh, devil men, and Santa into the clouds, screams follow. Moments later, a large sack plummets back to earth, a magical sack that thrusts the down-on-his-luck singer into the clutches of the terrifying Yule Lord, Krampus.

This story draws you in and doesn't let you go right until the end. Brom writes an original dark fairy tale with many twists and turns. The narrator did an awesome job especially as the voice for Krampus. All around one of the best books I've listened to all year
