"Overrated by the Author"
Paterson spent several minutes at the beginning of this audio book tell us how good the book is. Clearly he did not listen to it.
It is bloody for the sake of being bloody. It has ?Police Activities? that make no sense, such as, exhuming a body to look at it, then doing nothing else with it. The protagonist is utterly unbelievable, though the crimes are only partially so.
All in all it is not a book to bother with.
"Dull, Dull, Dull"
Grisham is typically an OK author, but this is a badly written, poorly conceived book with a dull plot and poorly executed characters. My wife and listened to this book on a trip and both of us commented--several times--on how bad it was. Mr. Singer added little to it as well. All in all I suggest you look elsewhere for a good listen.
"An excellent book, superb narrator"
My title says it all. This was a fascinating book read by what I believe to have been the best narrator or reader I have experienced in over 100 Audible.com books. Humphrey Bower moved from seamlessly from one character voice to another and from one accent to another that made an excellent story simply superb.
"I liked and enjoyed it"
This is a very interesting and well written book. It is easy to imagine yourself there and in your mind's eye you can see the countryside and have a sense of the culture. Read the book, you will enjoy it.
"Not fun"
This is not a fun book. Depressing.
"fun for a long ride"
A work of art? No. But, it is a fun listen on a long ride.
"Give it a while"
It takes more than an hour to get into this book, but once you do it is a very good "read". The mystery itself is good, but even better is beginning to understand where and how science began in solving murders. For those who happen to be interested in the political history of New York there is an added interest. Read it, it is worthwhile.
"Delete"
Not a particularly good story, poorly written but well read. If the author deleted the word ?SAID? the book would be about 1/3 shorter and much improved. Listening to phrases such as, ?he said??Jack said? ?Jane said??? Tom Said?.and everybody else said. It just never stopped?.
Don?t waste your time or money.
"Not bad --- TERRIBLE"
This may be the worst book I have ever listened to. It is not funny. It is not entertaining. It is not educational. It is not useful. It is an utter waist of time and money. It is one of the only books I felt I had to dispose of after getting only 37 minutes into it.
"A novel you believe is true"
This was one of the best books I have ever "read". Everything about it from character development to plot keeps you, if not on the edge of your seat, so fully involved that it was difficult to stop listening. If there was a downside it was that the book made me worry that the CIA made and continues to make very costly mistakes. You will learn a lot and perhaps believe you "learned" even more.
A Fantastic listen.
