The Future Of Our Past takes you into the lives of two people (Ryan and Julia), they have secretly loved each other since the very first moment they set eyes on one another. This book follows their lives, starting with their devoted friendship, their inner struggle to give into the love they feel, and finally thru their romantic relationship as it grows. We watch Ryan and Julia's journey over four years, as he works his way through medical school, she becomes a fashion magazine editor and they work hard at their long distant relationship. At times, obstacles get thrown in the way making life more difficult for them. The characters are well written and the romance is extremely steamy, but the declarations of love (and there are LOTS of them) do get a little repetitive. This story can get very sappy, almost boiling over with sickly sweetness. The dialogue between the two main characters is almost too freaking sugary sweet. Ryan and Julia were SO mushy. I was becoming a bit exasperated with all the 'I love you's' and 'No I love you more's'. We get it!! But if you like that sort of thing, this book is definitely for you. If you are looking for a lovey dovey story with LOTS of SEX than again this is the book for you. This book has a crazy cliffhanger & does make your heart ache towards the end. Overall, a tender mushy love story for all the hopeless romantics.
This is the second installment in the Assassins series by Toni Aleo. Lucas & Fallon’s story is very different than Elli & Shea’s. The author did a great job of making the characters unique. I’ll be honest, it took me a while to warm up to Fallon. I could see why she did what she did, but she was a bit of a brat. It took forever for her to find forgiveness. I understood why she did some of the things she did, but it still frustrated me at times. She kept something pretty big from Lucas, and he forgave her, yet it took her so long to get over the past. I adored Lucas Brooks! He was an amazing guy! Loving, patient, swoony and oh so sexy. He knows that he screwed up in the past, but he is being a better man and is willing to do anything to make it up to Fallon. His struggle with addiction and his determination to stay sober, was inspiring. I felt like he needed to go through the consequences of his addiction, so that he and Fallon could be a couple. Without giving anything away, you see how sensitive Lucas is and the relationship he develops with one of the characters made me melt! I love that he was so close to his parents too. Lucas & Fallon definitely have some serious sexual chemistry! This was another great hockey-playing, sexy, tattooed, sweet, cocky, romantic hero and more HOT sex scenes!! Trying To Score is heart-warming, romantic, sweet, sexy, funny and a bit sad. The story had a little of everything. However, it didn't have anything special that makes it stand out but still worth the credit.
I liked the book but not the ending because to me there was no true ending. I cant even qualify this as a cliffhanger. Normally I genuinely love Abbi Glines but this book started getting on my nerves!! There were a few things about this book that I did not like. It wasn't that the storyline was bad but it was the relationship between the two leads that did not make sense to me. This is the first couple in the series I just didn't feel the connection with.
Grant was a complete whorish douchbag! I just can't forgive him especially after the "twins".
It was interesting to learn more about Harlow and why she was so secluded all the time. There were a lot of unexpected secrets in this story. I wish Harlow didn't give into Grant so easily. She should have made him work for it a little harder, a lot harder actually. However, I did enjoy Grant for his dirty mouth. The Rosemary Beach boys are really good at that.
Abbi Glines definitely knows how to write some hot and dirty scenes and that's exactly what you get in Take A Chance. Along with the dramatic twists and turns (especially near the end), and the very alluring characters. I wil read the next book but I'm not sure if it will help endear me to Grant.
This book took me by surprise. It was a bit slow paced, and it might be off putting to some but I for one devoured every word. I absolutely adored the writing style and the fact that it was written in dual POVs. The story follows Caroline a nineteen year old college student who happened to be ostracized by whole university, because her ex – boyfriend broke her trust and published her naked pictures online. That day her plain ordinary life is shattered all with one click on the internet. She knew she shouldn't have let her boyfriend take those intimate pictures, but she loved him, she trusted him. The last thing she expects when she breaks up with him is for those very pictures to appear on the internet. This was the beginning of a very long, very dark chapter in Caroline's life. Not only is she plagued with the knowledge of everyone having seen her during such an intimate act, she's ashamed, haunted by the voices of the men who call her vile names, describe the repulsive things they'd do to her in comments, making her wary of anyone that looks her way. This is not something that ever goes away. The thoughts & feelings she has for herself afterwards are pretty heartbreaking. She finds that her dreams & aspirations are in jeopardy all due to her ex-boyfriend’s need for revenge. Along comes West Leavitt who isn't exactly the person he's made Caroline think he is. Known around campus for dealing pot and random hookups, he's doing everything he can to not get involved, but he can't keep his fists to himself when Caroline's ex starts making comments about what he's done. West is the kind of guy you wouldn’t really want to bring home to meet your father, especially if he is a judge, as it is in Caroline’s case. But when you look past all those things, and as the book develops, you see the reasons for the things he has to do, you realize he is actually a good-guy whose hidding behind his bad boy charm. He really has the best of intentions but has been stuck with a crappy set of circumstances. West is just a guy from the wrong side of the tracks. He didn't have a good upbringing and he's very secretive about his past. He has a precise plan to follow which is to make a better life for himself so he take care of his baby sister, Frankie. She is his reason to be a better man. He attends the same college as Caroline. West juggles multiple jobs and goes to school. He has absolutely no room for distractions like falling in love with a girl like Caroline. But yet something draws these two broken people together. Caroline is drawn to West but he won't let her in. He doesn't have time for a relationship, or even a friend. But the chemistry is undeniable and when they are alone together, sparks ignite. They find solace in each other. I loved their banter and fun-loving relationship; they're so different from each other, yet fit so right together. This isn’t a book about insta-love; it is about the development of a relationship under extraordinary circumstances. It takes place over months, and West for the most part tries to keep it in the friend-zone. Its sad to see how deeply the both of them are damaged, and the horrendous reasons why, it also shows just how good they are together and what one gives to the other in the way of support on an emotional level. I immensely enjoyed the ‘sexy times’. Robin York’s done a great job in describing sensual, steamy between the sheets action and I devoured this part of the story. All in all, we've got a fantastic mix of humor, romance, friendship but also a deeply depressing, emotional reality with an important very serious message. Deeper goes right to the heart of this issue and gives you an up-close and personal account of someone who is actually living with the after effects of having explicit pictures plastered over the internet, by someone who claims to have cared for her and that was in a position of trust. I found this book worthly of the credit I spent on it.
First, I read this book on my kindle app and I decided to try it in audio. Either way, the story held my attention and I really enjoyed this 1st book in the series. This book begins with Evelyn going out for her 21st birthday, she wants to get a little wild, have a little fun. So she goes to Vegas with her best friend. The last thing she remembers is taking shots after midnight... the next morning she wakes up with a ring on her finger and a tattoo on her ass. And she can't remember a damn thing. Evelyn has her life mapped out. Getting married to a rockstar she just met on her 21st birthday is not part of that plan. David isn't happy that Evelyn doesn't remember anything. He married her for a reason, he fell for her right away, and now he doesn't know what to do about it. It’s a pretty messed up situation. Once the media catches wind of this its even more crazy. Eve and David go away for a bit to get away from the crowds and decide what to do. To divorce or not to divorce... that is the question. While at David’s home away, the couple starts to get to know one another. Evelyn realizes that she really likes David. She may even be falling for him. She is afraid to tell him her feelings. David still feels hurt and betrayed that Evelyn remembers nothing of their night together. One thing is pretty obvious... they both want each other.
Once they go back to LA, everything changes. There are a lot of issues, miscommunications etc. Things get screwed up. It’s a little heart breaking. David & Eve spend some time apart.
Just a touch of drama and angst, but not overkill. A wonderful rockstar book that will keep a smile on your face!
Dual narrative, interesting twist but definitely had a dark vibe to it.
Dozer the dog!
Both equal however not my favorites. Their voices seem a bit old for these characters in this book.
Unfortunately, this book has a similar theme to many other books out right now. sudden reformed womanizer meets tortured abused broken heroine...
Sadly, this review isn't based on a complete book. It's another story released to the listeners in tiny pieces. I like the writing style& the narrators but not sure "chronicles" are worth all the money.
Stop releasing these books chapter by chapter.
Story has potential...steamy, decent character dialogue, hot chemistry, holds interest but these small blurbs don't do it justice.
Motorcycle Man, is the story of Kane"Tack" Allen and Tyra "Red" Masters. The magnificent Kristen Ashley does it again. Amazing characters, wonderful story, beautiful epilogue. I definitely recommend purchasing this last installment of the Dream Man series. This story begins with Tyra a smart, classy chick, who has been living off of her savings for the past two months after leaving a toxic work environment. Tyra decides to take a job at Ride a motorcycle & car shop but before showing up on her first day she goes to a wild Chaos biker party and meets Tack, the leader of the Chaos Motorcycle Club and owner of Ride. Tyra & Tack laugh, party, and have the best sex of her life and she falls HARD for Tack. In her mind, he’s her dream man, until he kicks her out of bed the next morning without even a goodbye. Unfortunately, on Monday morning when Tyra shows up to work her heart is stomped on even more, but Tyra’s one feisty girl and she’s not about to let some "biker dude” walk all over her! Problem is, Tack doesn't employ tail he’s hit, but Tyra is adamant about staying on board. Tack eventually caves on this and gives her a shot. This feisty Tyra, or “Red”, as Tack calls her is unlike the girl he met at the biker party, and now that he sees that, Tack has no intention of letting her go. Tack & Tyra have amazing sexual chemistry and Tack is such a sexy dirty talker. It works. It works really well. The dialogue between the two becomes more and more intimate, as Tack is surprisingly sweet. Kristen Ashley books are really something special. She writes from a very honest place. Her characters resonate deep emotional truths that just plain ring true. She writes heroines who are so real. They are strong, beautiful, flawed, smart and always full of fire. Tyra was no exception. She had fears and insecurities but those were drowned out by how wonderful she was. So kind and accepting, with a heart of gold. Tyra and Tack together is perfection! Their chemistry, love, banter, passion, humor, all of it is off the charts! I loved this book...it's my favorite of the Dream Man series. I truly believe that no one writes a better alpha male! Hot, bossy and possessive to the max, Tack is something else! 5+++TACK-riffic STARS!!
Be With Me is the second book in J. Lynn’s NA Wait For You series. We first met Jase and Teresa in Wait for You, where we found out that Teresa is a dancer but tore her ACL recently, and her future is balancing on a fence. We also knew that Jase has some well-kept and huge secrets, which we find out in this book. After sharing a kiss about a year ago, Teresa & Jase haven't talked much at all. Until they share another moment, and the two of them are stuck together in a college class, among other situations. Jase knows that he needs to stay away from Cam's little sister but it becomes inevitable they're drawn together. Be with Me follows this couple as they go through and overcome the toughest obstacles they'll ever face. I did feel there were some revelations/twists that were a little dramatic, but because the romance was absolutely delicious, I didn't mind them as much as I probably should have. This book really does pulls at your heart strings. It covers some very serious subjects with the respect and emotional care that they deserve. The characters are developed perfectly and you get an insta-connection with them that endures through the whole book. The romance is sizzlin and full of tender vulnerable moments between Teresa & Jase. You also get to see more of Cam and Avery, so fans of the first book will be very pleased. I found everything I have come to love about JLA's writing in this novel: the steamy romance, scenes that make you swoon. I would recommend the series. Plus, the narrator does a great job with these books.
Brianna “Bri” Martin grew up with an abusive father and, when things go too far one night, she packed her things and ran away from home. She lived on the streets for some time, until she met Jaxon Young, who helps her get her life together and becomes her good friends. They live together and work together at the same bar. I really like Bri, even if she can be a complete bitch sometimes - and she knows it! She’s also sarcastic and reckless yet also passionate and protective of what’s hers. Bri is a survivor, doesn't do relationships, and doesn't trust anyone but Jax. Then she meets Luke, who intrigues her but also scares her because he’s a boxer. Just like dear old dad! Luke is a underground fighter, complete alpha package, rough around the edges, broody, and intense. They have a intensely passionate yet extremely dysfunctional relationship. This wasn't your flowery type of romance at all. These two are destructive, and I felt no connection to either one of them. Just to give warning that are some darker parts where Bri is a victim of physical abuse more than once. Like I said ....the book was okay just not great.
I've actually read book #1 Driven & book #2 Fueled but still decided to try it in audio. I can say that each book gets better and better. I'm still waiting on the last book Crashed to be released in March. Can't wait!! Driven is told from the perspective of Rylee Thomas. She's a 26yrs old working for Corporate Cares, a company that houses orphans. The state turns over their guardianship to her company. Corporate Care, houses kids who are at an age that the chance of adoptions are pretty low. So instead of foster care, they have a home to live in, they have consistency of guardians, rules, school and counselling. Rylee meets Colton Donavan backstage at a charity auction, after getting trapped in the storage closet, Rylee starts to have a panic attack when Colton saves the day. They share an instant attraction, but in the heat of the moment, Rylee realizes that the man that has her body pinned up against him, was only minutes ago getting it on with another woman in the hallway near by. Rylee is soooo not impressed with his playboy slut games and wants nothing to do with any of it. Unfortunately, this refusal only sparks Colton's relentless seduction and chase of Rylee. Before the night is over Rylee finds herself rescued, kissed, insulted, pursued, tempted, coerced and ultimately obligated to a date thanks to a donation paid for by Colton Donavan. Needless to say they are off to a bumpy start. Rylee is very broken with a tragic past and she will fight his seduction every step of the way. Colton however is used to getting what he wants and “Driven” is his middle name. Her resistance only serves to fuel his determination. He ends up making a huge contribution to Corporate Cares and Rylee finds herself working side-by-side with Colton on the project. It becomes apparent that Colton has some major demons which he is determined to keep to himself. Everything about their relationship is so incredibly intense - the good, the bad, the sex, the drama. It's full on. I loved the chemistry between them, these two were hot. Even the scenes where they don't actually have sex were extremely HOT! It was definitely one of those books were 'getting there'was just as good as the act itself. I will admit, I spent the first 70% of the book seriously frustrated with both Rylee & Colton. The push and pull - he wants her, she resists, she gives in, he pushes her away, she lets him, he pursues her, she resists, she gives in, she runs away, she comes back, he resists, he gives in.... It drove me freaking crazy! Colton’s and Rylee’s story move along a break-neck speed but come to a crashing halt with a cliff-hanger ending. I recommend you continue with the next book Fueled when Audible releases it.
