Bad Rep was a great story about love and acceptance. Maysie and Jordan’s journey was rocky and insanely HOT! The story is told from the point of view of Maysie, a twenty year old college junior who falls head-over-heels for her sexy, off-limits coworker Jordan. Jordan was hot. Like ridiculously hot. I swear I flipped back & forth so much on my feelings for Jordan I got whiplash. One minute he's all sweet hot rock god and the next he is douchy boy with a girlfriend asking another girl out! I went through many phases of both loving and hating Maysie & Jordan. I cheered for them, cried for them, and yelled at them. As you can tell this book was FILLED with drama! The gossipy, back stabbing, girl fight drama that is entertaining but gets old after a while. Fortunately, Jordan and Maysie's journey to love and trust far out shines all the annoying drama. Their attraction was immediate and their romance was insanely hot! I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a simple fun sexy story. On a side note, my friend who read the book shared the author's acknowledgments with me. The author was thanking some of her special people, “Particularly my wonderful husband, who is the true inspiration for Jordan and all his kick ass, rock god ways. We met in a bar. He was the sexy, guitar playing Brit and I couldn’t resist. Kind if fun knowing that Jordan was based on a real person.
Another enjoyable book about the lives of In Vito Veritas. I do have to start by saying that BDSM is generally hit or miss for me. As for this, I honestly enjoyed it. Its about a wealthy man named Elijah and a beautiful artist named Samantha. Samantha caught Elijah's eye after he saw a piece of art that she had displayed at one of his resorts. They seem to have instant chemistry and see something that draws them to each other. This story has a lot of twists and turns. Elijah dealing with lingering scars. Samantha is carrying around a lot of guilt and shame from a dark secret. This story has a lot to do with sexual discovery for the heroine, Samantha. Overall, it was definitely a hot book. Although, the book had some originality, I did notice some common similarities found in other books in this genre. Regardless, my attention was still absorbed from start to finish without really stopping. Fans of the BDSM genre will really enjoy this. And it will definitely appeal to lovers of contemporary romance who don’t mind a little kink with their love story.
The story is told from 3 different POV's, giving us the opportunity to witness first hand what each main character is thinking & feeling. I really enjoyed the storyline. It’s about growth and forgiveness. It captivated from the beginning the story draws you in, it left wanting more after each page, there are lots of twist and turns and it's a roller coaster ride of emotions. The book begins with Maggie returning to New Hope for her sister Krystal's wedding. Her wedding to Maggie's ex-fiance Will. Poor Maggie....she's been through a lot. She was so broken. Made to believe things about herself that stemmed from an unsavory tragic event that she experienced when she was 15.
Maggie ends up meeting Asher during the wedding. We find out that Asher actually lives next door to Maggie's parents. He's a former rock-star with a past of his own. He see's the real Maggie. The Maggie beyond the broken spirit. The Maggie with a kind heart...that wants more then anything to be loved. Maggie & Asher's relationship really starts to blossom when Maggie begins to come to terms with the things that happened in her past. She learns to let go so that she and Asher can have something beautiful together. Overall, I found this book endearing. It’s sexy, passionate as well as tender and emotional. It involves a young woman’s journey from a past where innocence was violated resulting in years of unwarranted guilt & despair. It involves a painful secret, one that’s heart wrenching, so be prepared!
Into the Deep is the book it claims to be. It's a second-chance/ex-lovers romance through and through. It starts off in alternating chapters between present and past, so we really do fall in love with this couple twice in this book. A second chance at love story always tugs at my heartstrings. Not only did Into the Deep tug at my heart strings it settled in and gave my heart a great big crushing squeeze! It was filled with painful longing, lusty attraction, and a once in a lifetime romance. Jake & Charley first meet in high school. Jake moves to Charley's small-town and turns her world upside down. She trusts and loves him whole-heartedly. They fell into love while they were both sixteen. They were very young, but sometimes life works out like that. Unfortunately, tragic circumstances cause a rift and Jake leaves Charley without any explanation shattering Charley’s heart. She’s never been the same. Over three years later Charley has moved on as best as she could and is fulfilling her goal of studying abroad. Complete shock, excruciating pain, and disbelief strike Charley when she finds Jake also attending school there, as well, with a girlfriend in tow! Avoiding him and his girlfriend is near impossible as all of their friends hang out together. Plus, Jake can’t seem to stay away from Charley and asks her to be his friend. She knows that she should avoid him and refuse but she just can’t tell him no. Their mutual attraction and deep connection comes through loud and clear to everyone around, causing drama and angst. The story alternates chapters flashing back to the past, and then going back to the future, revealing slowly what went wrong with Charley and Jake. With all my uneasiness over Jake I still want nothing more than a HEA between them. Their hot chemistry, sparks, and attraction are felt profoundly throughout the story!! Samantha Young always manages to suck me in with her addictive and wonderful writing. All the ups & downs were worth every moment! I'm looking forward to the sequel once released!!
Told from alternating points of view, Logan and Emily's, this book had an interesting plot. Logan and Emily are each dealing with their own personal struggles, and even though a little over the top at times, as far as the story line goes, it’s not too over the top with angst or overly dramatic. This book captured my attention right away. The characters were endearing, the story was fast paced, interesting and refreshing. Lets just say a few pages in and I was hooked. By the time I hit the ending, I was disappointed it was over so quickly! In fact, this book ends abruptly but leaves you knowing there is more to Emily and Logan’s story. Emily goes by Kit. She spends her days playing guitar by the subway of NYC. She is a long way from home. She comes from a whole different world than the one she is living in now. She is homeless- but it’s a choice she made. She's hiding a secret that she can't trust anyone with. Next you meet Logan who lives with his four brothers. He is a tattoo artist. He is a bit of a man slut. And he is also deaf. He too has his own secrets. One day Emily arrives at a tattoo parlor requesting a tattoo of one her designs. Logan is the tattoo artist for this project. The sparks fly between them especially when Emily ends up punching him in the nose and breaking it. From that point, Emily and Logan start to form a connection early on and the chemistry between them is quite believable, but what I really loved is the relationship she forms with all his brothers and that the brothers have with each other. I family dynamic in this book was great. Even though Logan had no parents to speak of, his brothers were a tight unit. I especially had a soft spot for Matt. Although short, this book was still packed with plenty of steam and enough awwwww moments. Still worth the purchase even though the book was very short.
First, I just want to warn you that this story is absolutely NOT for the faint hearted. Unbeautifully is the heart wrenching, frustrating, intense and ultimately beautiful story of Danny & Ripper. Aside from Danny and Ripper's story, we also get a background story with scenes from Eva and Deuce's POV. After what happened with Frankie, the guy who singlehandedly ruined a dozen people's lives, both of them are still struggling to go back to the way things were before Frankie. I loved the fact that Eva & Deuce still had a big part in this story and that they eventually get the HEA they both deserve so much. This book continues after Undeniable, and going back to where Danny and Ripper’s story starts. As an eighteen year old girl, Danny feels lonely and miserable after everything that happened with her family. Her mother left her at an early age and her father Deuce, although he loves her and would do anything to protect his children, isn't exactly a role model kind of dad which pretty much left her and her brother Cage to grow up by themselves. All these events have made her into a strong, mature young woman, but at the same time she's also struggling to find out what to do with her life. On her prom night, Ripper was sent to pick her up from the dance, but on their way home, they make a stop at a lake, because Danny doesn't want to go home yet and one thing leads to another...
Ripper is a man with a broken past. After crazy Frankie got his hands on him, he's ruined on the outside. He has so many scars on the outside, and it feels like his ruined on the outside too. Other than the Club, his life doesn't seem to have much meaning. Danny finally makes him see that although he's all scarred up on the outside; those scars don't make him any less beautiful. She makes him feel alive and determined to truly start living again after feeling miserable and rather wishing he were dead for a very long time. He realizes he loved Danny, but their love is unconventional. They're not "supposed to" be together. Ripper is fourteen years older than Danny and a member of her father's motorcycle club and both of them know Deuce will never allow them to be together... They have to sneak around and when things start to get out of hand, their affair becomes messy. The story basically spirals out of control from that point on...
This is a story of love and life in a world of violence, sex, and death with its own rules. These are characters that you know you should hate, but just can't help but love. These aggressive, trigger-happy, rebellious, can't-keep-their-dick-in-their-pants, foul mouthed, badass bikers, who work their way straight into your heart. Enjoy this unconventional and sizzling HOT love story which will hook you!
Despite the fact that this book mentally exhausted me like no other book ever has, I did find myself spellbound by Ava and Jesse's unique and dramatic love life and I was unable to stop listening to their over-the-top crazy story. Eventually, I really did end up liking the second part of this trilogy much more than the first one. This book was so intense and I was utterly lost and transfixed in their world. Jesse & Ava in the depths of despair at the end of This Man. Both of them are broken by what has happened and their relationship is seemingly in ruins. They’re both in pieces and wrecked and, Jesse especially, hell-bent on self-destruction. This was done so very well – their broken hearts and intense overwhelming sadness leap vividly to life right off the page and their despair is palpable. They’re just lost without each other. Anyways, Jesse's friends come to Ava for help and so ensues the beginnings of their reconciliation. Eventually, Jesse is back to his arrogant, alpha, dominant controlling glory with sleepy sex, sense fucks, reminder fucks and now even retribution fucks. The steam factor in this book is through the roof!! I honestly didn't think Jesse Ward could seem anymore crazy but in Beneath This Man, the guy introduced us to a whole new level of borderline DELUSIONAL! At one point, I became appalled with their relationship but soon came to the realization that its just who they are(crazy in love). Throughout the book, the couple has their ups and downs. Jesse still held a lot of secrets from Ava until the end. Jesse finally opens up towards the end of the book and explains where he was AND what he was doing during those days he disappeared in the first book This Man. When he revealed this, my heart broke for Ava because she was devastated. Beneath This Man is a beautiful, captivating, conflicting, tortuous romance that had me completely consumed by their story. This book provides a wild ride, a rollercoaster of emotions, a train wreck and a beautiful prelude of what's to come in the next chapter in their story.... This book was definitely better for me than the first. I don't know what the third installment will bring, but I can't wait to find out!
RL Mathewson gave us another wonderful adventure in the Neighbors from Hell series. Connor O'Neil and Rory James have been torturing each other since preschool. The teasing, pranks and antics did not end as they got older...oh no...both Connor and Rory just got more creative. Bigger and better! Twenty-five years later and their two rival construction companies are competing for the same job. As fate would have it, both companies land the job and they have to work together. I adored Rory & Conner, they were both sexy and hilarious. It was a never ending banter between this two who hated each other yet can't live without each other. I loved the chemistry, the humor, the silly escapades, the romantic side of Connor, Rory stubbornness, the smoking smexy times, and the addictive hot cocoa! And despite the craziness of the story, I did love that there was a touch of sweet heart warming backstory. Plus, I was so excited to find out that both Jason and Trevor (from the previous two books in this series) made appearances and they were still up to their food-grabbing antics. Just remember to not take this book seriously, just enjoy the ride!
I am looking forward to Audible releasing more books in Mathewson's A Neighbor from Hell series. These books are a must listen!!
A delightful, crazy romp with another food obsessed, bossy, obnoxious Bradford. This book had me laughing out loud at all Trevor’s crazy antics. Zoe needs someone to be her champion and Trevor is just the man for the job. She’s his tenant and neither have ever spoken, but he still manages to annoy the HELL out of her. The first time they have a face to face encounter he insults her, over food of course, and regrets what he says the minute it comes out of his mouth. So, he tries to right the wrong by helping her out and along the way, he falls in love with her. Soon an unexpected friendship blossoms. Then one night everything changes when Zoe goes to a bar to hunt for a man. A girl has needs too! She has been on a dry spell and is in need for sex. Trevor ends up at the same bar when he spots a drunken Zoe and makes her an offer she can't refuse. Friendship becomes lust and lust turns in to love. I enjoyed this book, but I preferred the first one. Trevor's disparaging thoughts, her low self-esteem and the friends with benefits storyline lessened my enjoyment a bit. Overall, this was another fun, hilarious and delicious "light" listen from Mathewson! I like this author ability to keep your attention with the characters clever sarcasm and hysterical banter She is good at making you laugh, gives some some good anticipation anxiety, makes you tingling with the heat she puts in her sex scenes, and I like that her epilogues gives glimpses years out about how wonderful life is with the characters.
This story was sweet, romantic, and fun! The characters were lovable & I enjoyed the playful interaction between them. The story line was simple, and although it wasn't action-packed, I did not want to put this book down. Jason Bradford loves women, just doesn't love them enough to start a relationship with him. After five years of getting the cold shoulder from his neighbor, he is delightfully surprised to find out she is a baseball fan, cooks sinfully delicious goodies, and a total blast to hang with. As a unique friendship develops, both Jason and Haley find themselves dating each other without actually dating one another, only time will tell if it will develop into something more. Jason and Haley are adorable, sweet and kept me laughing out loud throughout the entire book. Jason is absolutely delicious and his obsession for baked goods was freaken hilarious. Haley is your typical shy bookworm but she's got a lot of sass and fire underneath it all and it was really great to see her come out her own shell. The off the charts chemistry between these two was simply irresistible and steamy as hell. The characters are both wacky, and their behavior is off the charts unbelievable. This is a real feel good, pick me up type of book, that'll have you laughing in no time. Loved it!
Beautiful Beginning starts off with a very stressed out bride and a very focused groom. Chloe and Bennett are down to the wire with wedding preparations and Chloe is about ready to head off to Las Vegas. Bennett is more focused on keeping his bride sane but also on how to make their wedding night special. So he decides that weren't going to have sex until the wedding night. Which is 5 days away and Chloe, being who she is, decides she needs to fight Bennett on that and what ensues if a test of restraint for Bennett. There are a LOT of hilarious and epic scenes in this book. It literally kept me laughing and smiling while enjoying them tormenting each other before their big day. Like every other book in this series we get a hot, fun, full of romance story! You will be laughing, you will be fanning yourself and you will be enjoying every moment of it.
