The story has alot of twists and turns as well as giving you food for thought. It's fast paced and never dull. However the funny parts will catch you off guard so if you are listening with ear buds, folks around you will think you've lost your mind as you laugh uncontrollably. If you like the parakeets in the first book you will LOVE them in the second one!
Each book is good stand alone but is best as they string together for an unexpected end.

Sadly the narrator is terrible. She mispronounces SO many words, even common everyday words. When she speaks in the characters voices she speaks haltingly like a robot. There is long pauses in the oddest spots and she miss speaks alot. All of which the director, producer and editor should have caught and fixed. If I were the author I'd be very angry about how they butchered my book.

It was supposed to be a harmless camping trip. Six wayward teenagers who'd run into trouble with the law, and their court-appointed guardians, Sara and Martin Randhurst. Three nights on a small, deserted island off of Michigan's upper peninsula. A time to bond, to learn, to heal. Then Martin told a campfire story about the island's history. Of the old civil war prison hidden in there, and the starving confederate soldiers who resorted to cannibalism to stay alive. Everyone thought it was funny. They even laughed when Martin pretended to be dragged off into the woods.

I have never laughed so hard! The author tries for the bloody gross out, goes over the top and it ends up being corny and silly. Not to use too many spoilers but the crazy cannibal with the salt shaker, and the kids who says in tears, "I ate my friend and he tasted like chiken!" I almost wet myself !
