Angel Crawford is finally starting to get used to life as a brain-eating zombie, but her problems are far from over. Her felony record is coming back to haunt her, more zombie hunters are popping up, and she’s beginning to wonder if her hunky cop-boyfriend is involved with the zombie mafia. Yeah, that’s right—the zombie mafia. Throw in a secret lab and a lot of conspiracy, and Angel’s going to need all of her brainpower—and maybe a brain smoothie as well—in order to get through it without falling apart.

Would you consider the audio edition of Even White Trash Zombies Get the Blues to be better than the print version?

Yes, Allison McLemore adds a lot of flavor to the telling of the story

What other book might you compare Even White Trash Zombies Get the Blues to and why?

This was my first book featuring zombies living secretly among us, So no comparison - except for the first book "My Life as a White Trash Zombie.' Both terrific, fun stories,

Have you listened to any of Allison McLemore’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Haven't heard her on anything else, but I would definitely give her a listen.

What would have made Zombie Apocalypse Diary Entry #1 better?

More story, this was just about to get interesting and it was done.

Would you ever listen to anything by Sarah Pinborough again?

    Yes.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Too dramatic, and she sounded younger than the 13 year old in the story.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Zombie Apocalypse Diary Entry #1?

There wasn't enough of the story to cut!

RIZEN is a chilling collection of stories that will have you on the edge of your seat! A plague has caused the dead to rise and stalk the living.... "The Chosen": Ten years after the zombie apocalypse, Dan and his family try to stake out a new life for themselves in rural Wyoming. When he encounters a mysterious group of survivors who call themselves The Chosen, Dan is unsure whether he can trust them. The reader is a little overly dramatic, and the stories are so short they are more like essays , but I did enjoy listening.

When the end finally occurred, everything about it was cinematic. The dead came back and ate people, civilization collapsed, and no one could do a thing. But Cyrus V. Sinclair couldn’t care less; he’s a sociopath. Amidst the chaos, Cyrus sits back and contemplates the gore stained streets and screams of his fellow man with little more emotion than one of the walking corpses. With his cache of guns and MREs, he rather likes the idea of hunkering down in his Seattle apartment while the world ends outside.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

People who enjoy books sympathetic to sociopaths.

What could Eloise J. Knapp have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

The story didn't pull me in and make me understand why Cyrus felt the way he did. I'm not sure if the idea behind the story was to make the reader hope the main character dies a horrible death or to create sympathy for him, but I kind of wanted him dead. I wasn't sure who to root for. I think the emphasis was too heavy establishing Cyrus was 'different'.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

    Too slow!

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    Irritation!

Heidi Hawthorne is a 37-year-old FM radio DJ and a recovering drug addict. Struggling with her newfound sobriety and creeping depression, Heidi suddenly receives an anonymous gift at the station - a mysteriously shaped wooden box branded with a strange symbol. Inside the box is a promotional record for a band that identifies themselves only as The Lords. There is no other information. She decides to play it on the radio show as a joke, and the moment she does, horrible things begin to happen.

After 12 years of secret training, Atticus O’Sullivan is finally ready to bind his apprentice, Granuaile, to the earth and double the number of Druids in the world. But on the eve of the ritual, the world that thought he was dead abruptly discovers that he’s still alive, and they would much rather he return to the grave. Having no other choice, Atticus, his trusted Irish wolfhound, Oberon, and Granuaile travel to the base of Mount Olympus, where the Roman god Bacchus is anxious to take his sworn revenge - but he’ll have to get in line behind an ancient vampire, a band of dark elves, and an old god of mischief.

I wasn't prepared for the book to completely skip Grunuaile's training! I spent the first chapter in mild shock over missing 12 years of Atticuses life (hence the 4 star review). But I pretty quickly recovered and moved on, since this was another fabulous Iron Druid story.I was riveted to my speakers right up to the OMG ending! Kevin Hearne has a powerhouse of a series here, and I hope for at least a dozen more stories!

The cozy little town of Pine Deep buried the horrors of its past a long time ago. Thirty years have gone by since the darkness descended and the Black Harvest began, a time when a serial killer sheared a bloody swath through the quiet Pennsylvania village. The evil that once coursed through Pine Deep has been replaced by cheerful tourists getting ready to enjoy the country’s largest Halloween celebration in what is now called “The Spookiest Town in America.”

Jonathan Maberry is one of my favorite authors. GRB was part creepy classic, complete with dark woods and shadowy cornfields, and part thriller with bad guys and guns - but it was just too dang long. There is a terrific build up to the action-packed showdown, where all factions in the story collide, but at that point it's too prolonged and the momentum is lost. I'm hesitant to finish the series -I really want to know what happens, but I'm afraid it might take to much time.

The Great Recession has shuffled Clay Jannon out of his life as a San Francisco Web-design drone - and serendipity, sheer curiosity, and the ability to climb a ladder like a monkey has landed him a new gig working the night shift at Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore. But after just a few days on the job, Clay begins to realize that this store is even more curious than the name suggests. There are only a few customers, but they come in repeatedly and never seem to actually buy anything....

Even though at times I itched for the reader to get on with it already, Ari Fliakos kept the perfect pace for Penumbra. Half way through I still didn't know what the book was about but I was enjoying the story as it unraveled at it's own pace. Penumbra was well written, and well told.

This is the story of Michael Talbot, his family, and his friends: a band of ordinary people trying to get by in extraordinary times. When disaster strikes, Mike, a self-proclaimed survivalist, does his best to ensure the safety and security of those he cares for. Book one of the Zombie Fallout Trilogy follows our lead character at his self-deprecating, sarcastic best. What he encounters along the way leads him down a long dark road, always skirting the edge of insanity.
