I enjoy many types of books and am always looking for new authors to read and listen too. I enjoy reading the reviews and adding my own from time to time.

When terrorism goes viral, one man goes ballistic. They can strike anytime, anywhere. A public landmark. A suburban shopping mall. And now, the human body itself. Three Middle Eastern terrorists have been injected with a biological weapon, human time bombs unleashed on American soil. They are prepared to die. To spread their disease. To annihilate millions. If America hopes to fight this enemy from within, it needs a new kind of weapon. Meet Special Agent Jericho Quinn.

What did you love best about National Security?

The real possibility that this could happen at any time in our world. A lot of brilliant people out there today who can easily be led astray for the wrong cause. A Pandora epidemic is most certainly something that could happen today.

What was one of the most memorable moments of National Security?

I found the beginning of the book very memorable. A normal day which turns to hell in a matter of hours. You so wish the loss of the policeman could have been avoided and in truth had Molly stayed home, it would have.

Which character – as performed by Tom Weiner – was your favorite?

Jericho Quinn who is most certainly a force to be reckoned with. He is quite a character and for sure one you would like in your corner.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

My reaction was that I wanted him to catch all the bad guys quickly. Several scenes made me catch my breath as well as consider losing my stomach once or twice. The author did a good job of putting you in the scene and making you feel like you were there experiencing what he was.

    Any additional comments?

The first chapter grabbed me and made me want to keep going to see what was next for the well developed characters here. All the characters were developed well and fit their part of the story perfectly. It was an excellent listen though I would like for the women's voices to be a little better done. I have heard worse though and it did not distract from the story as a whole.

It was whispered all through London society that he was a murderer, that he'd spent his youth in an asylum and was not to be trusted - especially with a lady. Any woman caught in his presence was immediately ruined. Yet Beth found herself inexorably drawn to the Scottish lord whose hint of a brogue wrapped around her like silk and whose touch could draw her into a world of ecstasy.

    Story

Lord Ian Mackenzie loves Ming bowls to the point of obsession. Their beauty kept him from going insane after being put in an asylum by his abusive father when he was a child. He is brilliant but appears to walk to a different drummer. He prevents beautiful young widow Beth Ackerly from marrying Sir Lyndon Mather who is only after her money. It takes little time for Ian to want Beth himself and when she breaks the engagement to Mather and goes to France he follows her. They come home to Scotland married. Ian's brother Hart, the Duke of Kilmorgan is not happy about the marriage and makes life a little uneasy for Beth at first. There is a power struggle which involves a former lover of Hart's that puts Beth in peril and Ian has several setbacks. A well rounded story with great love /sex scenes. Jennifer Ashley writes this type of novel very well. All the books in this series are good and book six will be out soon. Have really enjoyed the stories of the Mackenzie brothers. Well worth a credit. Have listened several times and will again.

I am a fan of Sci-Fi movies but in general do not read or listen to them but this one caught my attention so decided to give it a try. I was blown away by the whole thing. The story is so good and characters are well formed with lots of depth to them. The hero Kyle Riggs is a college professor of computer science that ends up saving the world. The save however does come with strings attached. Great sadness when he suffers loss of his children not once but twice. Mark Boyette does and absolutely wonderful job. Kyle sounds like a hero. He does not make him sound macho but like a normal guy caught up in extraordinary events which he must learn to deal with or die. The test the ship puts him through to see if he can be a commander are great. I felt every bit of his turmoil in dealing with what was being thrown at him. Other characters in the book are also very well done vocally by Mark as well as written by the author. I will definitely listen to this again and at some point will go on the the others in this Starforce series. Thank goodness they keep Mark Boyette for the whole series. I was truly impressed with this listen.

Would you consider the audio edition of My Kind of Christmas to be better than the print version?

    No idea

Who was your favorite character and why?

Angie was my favorite because she had been through and overcome a horrible accident. She is a very strong character but does not recognize her own strength. Virgin River has many strong people living there and the Sheridan and Riordan familys are both large and full of life. She has to be strong just to survive her own family,

What does Therese Plummer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She knows all the characters in this series as she has done most of the books and brings all of them to life so well. She has developed voices for all of them and you can recognize them by their inflection. Does men's and women's voices equally well.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, but started it late and had to finish it the next morning.

If you could sum up Driving Mr. Dead in three words, what would they be?

    Fun, fun, fun

What did you like best about this story?

The way things just seem to go wrong no matter how hard Miranda tries to do things right. It is a comedy of mistakes that have you laughing all the time. Molly Harper is just great with dialogue and you should be careful with food or drink when listening to one of her books. The most unexpected things come out of Miranda's mouth. She is a very funny character and the vampire Colin is so far behind current times and customs that he is just as funny in a different way. He makes as many mistakes as she does.

What does Amanda Ronconi bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She just knows how to put the emphasis where it should be on the lines she is reading. Her voices are very good and though some don't like her voice, I think she is very good and a perfect match for Molly Harper's style of writing.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    No idea

Would you listen to Holly and Mistletoe again? Why?

Yes because it was very enjoyable to listen to and a fun, light romance. Not an overpoweringly sexy story but well done.

What did you like best about this story?

Mistletoe, the cat was a big part of the story and her reaction to her rescuer made life very difficult for him since she ended up living in his home. She seemed to like the rest of his family just fine but had problems with him. Made his romantic feelings for Holly more difficult since she managed to be where she was in the way a lot.

    Which scene was your favorite?

I think the scene where his family went around singing (off key) Christmas Carols. It was a funny scene.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed a lot while listening to this story. It was very lighthearted and just plain fun.

No one seems to be able to cool him down, except beautiful Bodie Mays. Bodie doesn’t mind saving Cane from himself, even if he is a little too tempting for her own peace of mind. But soon Bodie’s the one who finds herself in need of rescuing - only, she’s afraid to tell Cane what’s really going on. How can she trust someone as unpredictable as this fierce cowboy? When her silence only ends up getting her into even deeper hot water, it’s up to Cane to save the day.

Would you consider the audio edition of Wyoming Fierce to be better than the print version?

Have not read the book so I can not compare. Long book so easier than holding in hand for many hours.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the interaction of all the characters in this book. Explosive many times between Cane and Bodie's characters though there was tenderness of course. Lots and lots of misunderstanding. Cane is so hard headed and angry most of the time that he causes a lot of pain to those who care about him. Bodie really deserves better from him but in the end of course it does work out.

Which character – as performed by Phil Gigante – was your favorite?

I would say Cane as he does his anger and confusion so well. I also enjoy the performance of his brothers.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

More than one actually and would be hard to pick which one made the most impression on me. What happens when she does the only thing she thinks she can to save her home from her stepfather (real creep) is intense and moving. Cane of course manages to make a mess of this as well as other times he misreads what is going on around him. Stubborn, stubborn man.

    Any additional comments?

Read or listen to the book. It is good and worth the time or credit.

The life of a paid mercenary makes sense to Special Forces Officer Winslow Grange. The jungles of South America may make his former job as a ranch manager for his friend Jay Pendleton look like a cakewalk, but it’s nothing that the former Green Beret can’t handle. A woman’s heart, however - that’s dangerous territory. Back in Texas, Grange’s biggest problem was avoiding Peg Larson and all the complications being attracted to the daughter of his foreman would entail.

Where does Courageous rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It ranks very highly. Diana Palmer writes a really good book and they lend themselves to Audio very well.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Winslow Grange because he is such a capable man. Liked him from Heartless where I first met his character. Between his good looks and strong character he is a hard man to resist.

What about Phil Gigante’s performance did you like?

His voices for his characters other than Peg of course were all good. Makes Winslow a very sensual and strong man to listen to. You can feel the strength in his voice that his character is supposed to have. The other women in the book were better than Peg but wish the women were better. I enjoy his reading these types of characters. He is the narrator for most of the Long Tall Texan series and I enjoy listening to him.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When he reunites with Peg at the village where he has no idea she is since she is not even supposed to be in the country.

    Any additional comments?

This is just a very well written book with interesting characters and an interesting storyline that is at least one that you can believe could happen. I enjoy this series of books and am glad they are available on audio.

What did you love best about Wyoming Tough?

I enjoyed the ins and outs of everyday ranch work as described in the book as I grew up around cowboys and ranch hands myself. There is a good storyline here and Mallory Kirk is a very strong character. Surprised however that he was so easily fooled by the rag girlfriend who could not leave quick enough for me. Morie Brannt is a very strong heroine in this story. Gives as good as she gets though she is still vulnerable to her feelings for him. She of course, is hiding things from him as all heroines seem to do. Lots of good support characters who I am sure will get books or make appearances in later books.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Wyoming Tough?

The scene at her father's ranch when Mallory is finally presented with the truth. Hard for a strong man like him to face all his mistakes in front of all those people. He is a good man after all.

    Which scene was your favorite?

I had many that I enjoyed and can't decide on any one over the other that I would listen to over and over. There are many funny and sad moments in the story that bear hearing again.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Not good at tag lines so will not try here.

    Any additional comments?

I like the way Phil does all the male characters. He does suttle accents very well and does a very good drawl. I like to be able to tell a character is older and he does that well too. I do wish that his women's voices were better. They are more times than not too high pitched and more annoying than sensual. Love scenes can be tough indeed when the woman sounds like that. Hopefully that will improve one day because he is really a very good narrator.

Lady Celia Cleveden is the picture of pragmatism and sensible behavior, having no interest in uncouth louts or brutish rakes. That is, until the wild prince Ramiz of A’Qadiz rescues her amidst the shifting desert sands. Ramiz offers Celia a place in his harem - a proposal the cultured lady would normally refuse. But with their torrid nights burning hotter than the desert’s midday sun, Celia feels compelled to at least consider the sheikh’s enticing offer.

What made the experience of listening to Innocent in the Sheikh's Harem the most enjoyable?

I thought this was well read. I liked that Celia, the heroine, did not sound like a high school girl which seems to be the norm in historical romances in most cases unless they are described with a smokey or heavier voice. Julia Franklin had a good variety of voices for the characters and made it easy to listen and recognize each of the characters. Prince Ramiz had a very believable voice for his character's description.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Innocent in the Sheikh's Harem?

I thought a memorable moment was the first time she sees Ramiz from a distance when she and her husband arrive in port to begin their journey to see him at his palace. He is just as she pictured a Prince of the Desert from reading Arabian Nights. Simple scene but worked well. She behaved like someone ready to step forward and face her future no matter what it was to bring. The good along with the bad.

    Which scene was your favorite?

The love scene in the desert tent on the way to meet with the tribes. It is passionate and tender. Well written. You can almost feel the heat rise from the page as they come together even though they know a future together is almost unthinkable. They both have strong passion and it shows here.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Desert passion and destiny cannot be denied.

    Any additional comments?

Marguerite Kaye is a very good author. This whole series is good. A light and passionate romp in the desert for Celia and her sisters.
