Gayle says: "what a bizarre story"
    "narrator drove me crazy"
    Overall

The story was pretty bad and the narration made it worse, I think this would have been a better read then listen.

Born a generation apart and with very different ideas about love and family, Mariam and Laila are two women brought jarringly together by war, by loss, and by fate. As they endure the ever escalating dangers around them, in their home as well as in the streets of Kabul, they come to form a bond that makes them both sisters and mother-daughter to each other, and that will ultimately alter the course not just of their own lives but of the next generation.

    David says: "Somber but gripping"
    "Wow! Amazing book!"
    Overall

This book is a masterpiece because it paints a vivid picture of a mysterious, hidden country; a modern setting that we have seen on television, but could not understand. The human story it tells is universal. If you listen to this audiobook, you will care about the characters, and you will surely recognize people you have known.

While in Paris on business, Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon receives an urgent late-night phone call. The elderly curator of the Louvre has been murdered inside the museum, a baffling cipher found near the body. As Langdon and gifted French cryptologist, Sophie Neveu, sort through the bizarre riddle, they are stunned to discover a trail of clues hidden in the works of Da Vinci, clues visible for all to see and yet ingeniously disguised by the painter.

    Jonas says: "Overall Good"
    "It needs to be unabridged!"
    Overall

The audiobook was an enjoyable, good start, and I finished it; BUT I could definitely sense that large chunks were missing. A six hour version of a full sized book is not entirely satisfying because the audiobook moves too fast. Even though the French accent was so overdone that it was distracting, I thought the basic storyline was fascinating, intriguing. I have finished the abridged version, but I would still love to get an unabridged version and listen to the whole story.
