I'm a fan of historical novels and this one was no disappointment. The story was poignant and had me doing a lot of thinking about how I could have lived in that period of time. Robin Weigert was excellent doing the narration. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
I enjoyed Oath of Office and thought this would be a good follow-on story. The medical portions are pretty good but there are some pretty glaring errors in the military portions. The whole story was a bit of a stretch with some serious lack of judgment from the two main characters. I'm not completely put off and may try some of Michael Palmer's other novels. This one was just kind of ho-hum for me though. The narration was good and that's what kept me listening to the end.
Patrick Robinson does an excellent job of taking us behind the scenes and into the workings of a special ops mission. Although fiction, there's enough fact to keep the story believable. Fast-paced action that has you riveted. Hooyah for the Navy SEALs!
Begin with the inner workings of the drug cartels, add the mob angle, and anti-drug interdiction efforts, and you have a great story that just keeps getting better. It's very believable. Also, as a 30-year resident of Southern California, I felt like I knew exactly where the author was taking me. A great listen!
Fast paced story vividly made real by the fine narration of Gerard Doyle. I couldn't stop listening!
Great compilation of information. Where was this before the election of 2008? A must-read into the background of our least-vetted President.
Great series. I've listened to all five and I'm not disappointed! An old story line is really brought to life in present day New Orleans. I'm recommending this to everyone.
