There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

Some of the ideas presented in this book are so outthere and unbelievable that it kills the spook. The characters are great though and its a good listen.

The season of gift-giving is here, and this year we've got something special for our members: Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Yuletide whodunit "The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle". In this holiday-themed short story, Sherlock Holmes and his trusty sidekick, Dr. Watson, follow the trail of a lost hat and a Christmas goose through the streets of London and into a rapidly expanding mystery.

Gave it a shot, couldn't get into it. This was a free book, so I am not complaining, only stating that it wasn't for me.

Libby Day was seven when her mother and two sisters were murdered in "The Satan Sacrifice of Kinnakee, Kansas". As her family lay dying, little Libby fled their tiny farmhouse into the freezing January snow. She lost some fingers and toes, but she survived, and famously testified that her 15-year-old brother, Ben, was the killer. Twenty-five years later, Ben sits in prison, and troubled Libby lives off the dregs of a trust created by well-wishers who've long forgotten her.

I am often disappointed with endings. Sometimes a book is so good I suppose it's not possible to match the greatness of the book with the ending.
I don't know that that is the case with this particular book... but it was a pretty good read/listen. It held my attention, elicited a few chuckles, tickled my curiosity and the story was original.

What happens when a young child is traumatized? How does terror affect a child's mind---and how can that mind recover? Child psychiatrist Bruce Perry has treated children faced with unimaginable horror: genocide survivors, witnesses to their own parents' murders, children raised in closets and cages, the Branch Davidian children, and victims of family violence. In The Boy Who Was Raised as a Dog, he tells their stories of trauma and transformation.

Great book for anyone who has a small child or children in their life. I learned a lot, not just based on this doctors word, but the science and statistics behind it.

I loved the first book so much that I really wanted to love this one as well. I trudged through my boredom because I felt a loyalty—again, because of the first book.
By the time I got really interested… by the time I got to where I was anticipating time to listen to this book, it ended! So in essence I really enjoyed about the last chapter.
I will read the next book because I am invested at this point, but if it is as boring as this on… I am done!

OK, so this book was no masterpiece but it was an enjoyable light comedic read between some of the really intense novels I have been reading.
Its short and sweet and as cheesy as the title suggest. But not a bad cheesy if you need a little comic relief or a no brain cell type read.

Lacey Terwilliger's shock and humiliation over her husband's philandering prompt her to add some bonus material to Mike's company newsletter: stunning Technicolor descriptions of the special brand of "administrative support" his receptionist gives him. The detailed mass e-mail to Mike's family, friends, and clients blows up in her face, and before one can say "instant urban legend", Lacey has become the pariah of her small Kentucky town and a media punch line....

Got this book based on reviews that it was soooo funny. In my opinion there was one funny part around the beginning and the entire plot was based on that one funny act. It was boring, superficial and I would not recommend unless it was free.

    The reader was good.

This book was outside my usual direction of reading choices, but I really enjoyed it. It was never mundane or repetitive. The story was good from the first chapter all the way through. I wont put this book in my all time best book ever collection -- but I would highly reccomend it for a good read.

I listened all the way through because I really wanted to like this book. There characters were good, the speaker was good... but the story line was pretty bad. It was almost like the outline for a great book was there but the story was lacking. It actually became a chore to finish this book.

Why we think it’s a great listen: If you’ve ever loved a dog - or even patted a dog - this book, told from the perspective of man’s best friend, will tug at your heartstrings...and won’t let go until long after Welch performs the last word. Enzo knows he is different from other dogs: a philosopher with a nearly human soul (and an obsession with opposable thumbs), he has educated himself by watching television extensively and by listening very closely to the words of his master.

Lora says: "Enzo (because he's so wize) for president."

This book has SO MUCH potential!

Overall: If this book were a movie, I would not pay to go to the theater and see it; I wouldn’t even spend the money on renting it. I would however watch it if it came on regular cable.

The dog perspective is a great listen-- I was worried it would be cheesy coming from a dog, but it really wasn’t... it was great and sometimes funny. The dog had human thoughts for the most part with a few funny dog-like behaviors thrown in for good measure.

The family and the general story had a good outline but I did not enjoy the development of the story. There were a lot of complications that were cleaned up too easily, too shortly towards the very end. Not to mention I am not into racing cars. I get the comparison that was being made, but still found myself very bored with the descriptive parts about cars and/or racing them.
