When Anita Blake meets with prospective client Tony Bennington, who is desperate to have her reanimate his recently deceased wife, she is full of sympathy for his loss. Anita knows something about love, and she knows everything there is to know about loss. But what she also knows, though Tony Bennington seems unwilling to be convinced, is that the thing she can do as a necromancer isn't the miracle he thinks he needs.

This is another of her cheap short books just to get a title out. Like Micah, it is obviouis she didn't take the time to write a good book, just cranked out a book to sell. She can be such a great writer, it's sad she caves to the pressure to publish anything. Save your money for one she really tries on.

Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he’s alive—and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plain old "human error" are much more likely to kill him first. But Mark isn't ready to give up yet. Drawing on his ingenuity, his engineering skills—and a relentless, dogged refusal to quit—he steadfastly confronts one seemingly insurmountable obstacle after the next. Will his resourcefulness be enough to overcome the impossible odds against him?"

OK, I admit that I thought this was going to be an alien book. I was initially surprised and then increasingly excited as it developed into a book that put science back in Sifi. I reminds me of some of Larry Niven's books. It had me thinking up scenarios and how I would solve the problems. I like puzzles. Overall a great listen.

Where does Live Free or Die rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is a great book as it remindes me of Heinlein with the political commentary crossed with occational Douglas Adams type humor.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I really like the main character, Trevor, as he has a southerner's view point that cuts to the meat of any situation with a critical view of the buracracy of business and government.

What about Mark Boyett’s performance did you like?

The naration is great and it is one of the few books I heard that made me laugh several times on the reading.

    Any additional comments?

The next two books in the trilogy are also good, but this one was my favotite.

Anita returns with more plot and less sex. This one is a good read and features Edward significantly.

I really enjoyed the series and it puts the science back in SF. The speculative science was what first attracted me to SF as a teen.

The triumvirate created by master vampire Jean-Claude, necromancer Anita Blake, and werewolf Richard Zeeman has made Jean-Claude one of the most powerful vampires in the U.S. He's consolidating power in himself and those loyal to him, doing in America what Belle Morte did in Europe when she was at her height of power. She almost owned Europe, and there was those who are determined that Jean-Claude won't do the same in America.

While this book was at least book length and not a short story rip off disguised as a book like Flirt and Michah, I have to agree with the other reviews that it lacks plot. Yes,sex is an integral part of the series, but if you take out the sex what is left would make a good start on the first three chapters of the story of the battle with the vampire council. I've been hoping for the last several books that the trend to more sex and less plot would change but that doesn't appear to be the case. I doubt I'll buy another in the series.

A disturbing object is discovered in the Capitol Building. The object is an ancient invitation, meant to usher its recipient into a long-lost world of hidden esoteric wisdom. A good Dan Brown book with more insight into the Masons. The device of a character seeing something revealing but not sharing it with the reader got a little tiresome but overall a good read.
