Listen to this book and send your nonverbal intelligence soaring. Joe Navarro, a former FBI counterintelligence officer and a recognized expert on nonverbal behavior, explains how to "speed-read" people: decode sentiments and behaviors, avoid hidden pitfalls, and look for deceptive behaviors. You'll also learn how your body language can influence what your boss, family, friends, and strangers think of you.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I'd not recommend this book cause it's like recommending half cake recipe to best friend...

What was most disappointing about Joe Navarro and Marvin Karlins ’s story?

Through whole book I had a feeling that some ingredients in this recipe are missing. In my mind if you want to share something with others do it right and honestly or don't bother at all.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Narrator really sucks... He's more boring than all my worst teachers combined.

Could you see What Every BODY Is Saying being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

No, no, no...!!! No movie here!

If you could sum up How to See Yourself as You Really Are in three words, what would they be?

    Three words:
    Fire this narrator!
Mr. Hopkins-perhaps You are good writer, but keep yourself behind the desk and DO NOT record ANY books. Your voice and style of narration are not made for public listening. YOU made this book boring to death and should apology to Dalai Lama.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Didn't get there yet. I have to get hardcopy to go through.

What didn’t you like about Jeffrey Hopkins’s performance?

    EVERYTHING!

What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?

Teachings about compassion... Very mind changing.

Pi Patel has been raised in a zoo in India. When his father decides to move the family to Canada and sell the animals to American zoos, everyone boards a Japanese cargo ship. The ship sinks, and 16-year-old Pi finds himself alone on a lifeboat with a hyena, an orangutan, a zebra with a broken leg, and a 450-pound Bengal tiger. Soon it's just Pi, the tiger, and the vast Pacific Ocean - for 227 days. Pi's fear, knowledge, and cunning keep him alive until they reach the coast of Mexico, where the tiger disappears into the jungle.

Would you consider the audio edition of Life of Pi to be better than the print version?

I'm a biiiiiiigggg fan of audiobooks so I can't tell if it's better than hardcopy. I loved narrator here. Asian-Indian accent fitted great!

What other book might you compare Life of Pi to and why?

One of a kind. Can't compare it. Perhaps I don't have enough experience with that type of literature.

Have you listened to any of Jeff Woodman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    Nope

Who was the most memorable character of Life of Pi and why?

    Pi Patel of course!
His way of seeing things and seeking for the Truth was touching.

    Any additional comments?

    Great book. Movie sucks!

  • Water for Elephants

Why we think it’s a great listen: Some books are meant to be read; others are meant to be heard – Water for Elephants falls into the second group, and is one of the best examples we have of how a powerful performance enhances a great story. Nonagenarian Jacob Jankowski reflects back on his wild and wondrous days with a circus. It's the Depression Era and Jacob, finding himself parentless and penniless, joins the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth.

If you could sum up Water for Elephants in three words, what would they be?

    Most wonderful narration ever!

What did you like best about this story?

I'm not sure what moved me more - story or expressive narrator and story combined. Anyway, I had great time with this book.

Which character – as performed by David LeDoux and John Randolph Jones – was your favorite?

Old man - Jacob at age of 90...or 93... :)

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. Hard to stop. Sometimes I wished to extend my daily commuting ;)
