Why we think it’s a great listen: The most celebrated performance in all of Audible’s history, The Help has nearly 2,000 5-star reviews from your fellow listeners. We hear the print book’s not bad, either. In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women - mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends - view one another.

Having grown up 180 degrees from the setting of this book (and decades later), this was an eye opening book. The characters were human, the story flowed and was well written. I sat in my car not wanting to stop listening! I still wonder what happened to Abaleen and Minnie? Did Skeeter find happiness in NYC? Loved the book!!

Beloved author Elizabeth Berg tells the story of the recently widowed Helen Ames and of her 27-year-old daughter Tessa. Helen is shocked to discover that her mild-mannered and loyal husband had been leading a double life. The Ames's had saved money for a happy retirement, planned in minute detail, but that money has disappeared in several big withdrawals, spent by Helen's husband before he died. What could he possibly have been doing?

The narrator is hard to listen to. I found her very whine-y and needy. The main character was so passive aggressive, hovering, needy, and weak that I couldn't stand to hear about her! Maybe that is the point of the book, but I wanted to reach out and shake her.
    Not worth the credit.
