    "Read the reviews first"
    Overall

I wish I had waited to read the reviews before I purchased the audiobook. The narrarator is horrible and her voice simply does not match the 34 year old character. It"s too bad because I loved Still Missing (narrarator and all).

When Andrew Bridge was seven years old, he and his mother - a mentally unstable woman who loved her child more than she could care for him - slid deeper and deeper into poverty, until they were reduced to scavenging for food in trash bins. Welfare officials did little more than threaten to take Andrew away, until a social worker arrived with a police escort and did just that while his mother screamed on the sidewalk.

Gemma is the story of a child abduction written from two widely divergent points of view: 12 year-old Gemma and Hazen Wook, the 36-year-old man who abducts her. Hazen is a violent pedophile, a sexual obsessive, and Tilly does not white-wash or sanitize his thoughts in any way. This book is scary and not for the faint of heart.

As in Meg Tilly's "Singing Songs" this story leaves the reader wondering how the story ends??????????? Great listen but a very disappointing ending

Singing Songs is the masterful realization of a young girl's journey to adulthood in a chaotic, abusive, and fragmented world. It is the story of a strange and beautiful metamorphosis and makes a profound statement about the dark and secret places of family life. Tilly wrote this book based on her own memories as a child.
