  • With All My Soul: Soul Screamers, Book 10

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 47 mins)
    • By Rachel Vincent
    • Narrated By Amanda Ronconi
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

After not really surviving her junior year (does "undead" count as survival?), Kaylee Cavanaugh has vowed to take back her school from the hellions causing all the trouble. She's going to find a way to turn the incarnations of Avarice, Envy, and Vanity against one another in order to protect her friends and finish this war, once and forever.

Lisa says: "Have the tissue handy"
"All good things must come to an end"
Would you listen to With All My Soul again? Why?

Yes, I really enjoyed this series. I had it in my wish list for a long time and never did anything with it, thinking it might be too "kiddish" for me. Then i bought the first book and it sat in my queue forever while i always found something else to read in it's stead. Then i listened to it finally... and I was hooked. I bought all of the other books (up until this one) including the character spin offs. Like all good things come to an end, this series didn't keep going it ended when it needed to, while it was still absorbing and engaging.

Who was your favorite character and why?

That's a tough one, Ms. Vincent built some pretty great characters in this series. I'd have to say either Kaylee or Tod, I am a sucker for a 'good guy' with flaws but the right goals and pure hearts. These two have them in abundance.

What does Amanda Ronconi bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Amanda Ronconi never failed me yet. She's by far one of the best readers on Audible. period.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The other books in the series certainly had their moments where I might shed a tear or two but NOTHING like this book. I definitely cried over the course of listening to this book.

    Any additional comments?

Great series, definitely worth the time. Not at ALL as YA as i thought it would be. Fantastic characters, smart story line, real emotion and devotion, flaws and hero's. It was a lot of fun and I'd be shocked if i didn't pick the series up again in the future and re-live my time with Soul Screamers.

  • The Serial Killer Whisperer: How One Man's Tragedy Helped Unlock the Deadliest Secrets of the World's Most Terrifying Killers

    • UNABRIDGED (13 hrs and 13 mins)
    • By Pete Earley
    • Narrated By Alan Sklar
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

From New York Times best-selling author Pete Earley: the strange but true story of a man who suffers a traumatic brain injury and as a result is given the ability to converse with the world's most terrifying criminals.

aaron says: "Outstanding True Crime Story-- with a twist!"
"Well written - Good Narration - Hard to handle..."

It's a great book, very interesting, detailed and flows well. however this book is NOT for the feint of heart. This book is detailed, filled with the sickest people on the planet's own words, so keep that in mind if you're reading this book. I had some parts where even as a person who sees some of the worst of the worst in my work with State Correctional Facilities, had a really hard time not losing my lunch over. If you want a hard hitting, true crime novel that is an incredibly well written book in which the main plot line is actually a really fascinating story about a boy with brain damage, not these monsters and their letters, than this is a great read. But don't forget the Monsters are still there, and they're the loudest voice of them all.

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 38 mins)
    • By Peter Clines
    • Narrated By Ray Porter

There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

    Magpie says: "Super solid listen!!"
    "Peter Clines Does it again..."

I've really enjoyed Peter Clines' novels as a whole, and this one is no exception. It was incredibly original, fast paced, and kept you guessing without any obvious direction. Clines kept you guessing until the climax, and ended the book perfectly, which I often find is the hardest thing for some authors to do. This is absolutely worth the listen, especially if you've enjoyed Peter Clines previous work.

  • Die for Me

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 20 mins)
    • By Amy Plum
    • Narrated By Julia Whelan

My life had always been blissfully, wonderfully normal. But it only took one moment to change everything. Suddenly, my sister, Georgia, and I were orphans. We put our lives into storage and moved to Paris to live with my grandparents. And I knew my shattered heart, my shattered life, would never feel normal again. Then I met Vincent. Mysterious, sexy, and unnervingly charming, Vincent Delacroix appeared out of nowhere and swept me off my feet. Just like that, I was in danger of losing my heart all over again. But I was ready to let it happen.

Felicity Fairchild says: "What a pleasant ride!"
"The 2nd is out, but not on Audible :("

Really enjoyed this book thoroughly. And I was terribly bummed out when the second in the trilogy wasn't on audible. I did of course, have to read it instead of listening to it, because i couldn't possibly wait for it to hit audiobook format. The books fly by, and while i read the second in the trilogy, i will definitely get it when it comes to audible because i love the narrator. I don't want to get into too much detail because I'm afraid i'll let something slip about the second book, so i can only say... ENJOY!!!!

  • The Passage: The Passage Trilogy, Book 1

    • UNABRIDGED (36 hrs and 52 mins)
    • By Justin Cronin
    • Narrated By Scott Brick, Adenrele Ojo, Abby Craden
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

First, the unthinkable: a security breach at a secret U.S. government facility unleashes the monstrous product of a chilling military experiment. Then, the unspeakable: a night of chaos and carnage gives way to sunrise on a nation, and ultimately a world, forever altered. All that remains for the stunned survivors is the long fight ahead and a future ruled by fear—of darkness, of death, of a fate far worse.

Nicole says: "You love it or you hate it..."
"i agree w/ most about the ending..."

I found myself enjoying this book to the point where i practically spent 5 days of my dedicated to listening to it.

I loved it, and began to find myself empathizing with and truly "knowing" the characters. He did such an amazing job articulating details to the point where you really saw everything crystal clear without even having to delve too much into imagination to get a complete picture.

I traveled through time and worlds with these characters and plot, and then... at the end... after all of this time spent and emotion invested, the world became blurry and then completely broke down.

I can use my imagination to fill in some gaps but there are some VERY big glaring holes in the completion of this book, where detail seemed to break down into "LETS GET THIS BOOK TO PRESS NOW". It fell short and left these gaping holes that he better write a short story to fill for the sake of those who spent 40 hours of our lives inside this story and demand answers to some very important questions.

"The city of San Francisco is being stalked by a huge shaved vampyre cat named Chet, and only I, Abby Normal, emergency backup mistress of the Greater Bay Area night, and my manga-haired love monkey, Foo Dog, stand between the ravenous monster and a bloody massacre of the general public. Whoa. And this is a love story? Yup."

    Ron says: "WOW!!!"
    "I was leery"

but i was wrong, this whole series was fantastic. i don't think i've ever laughed so hard when reading / listening to books. People would look at me funny, even in my own home because i was forced to L.O.L. A LOT! O.M.F.G.!

Amazing reader who you can tell is as into this book as anyone can be. She really plays out those characters fantastically.
