It's one of the most inspiring books I've read, extremely well narrated by the Sir. Attenborough. It's not one of the boring memoirs where you start with childhood and go on. You'll like it if you like Sir. Attenborough's work, nature, or want to find out how nature films are made. I loved the witty style of writing and the subtle jokes. It made me think of childhood dreams when I wanted to be an explorer and study animals and have my own natural reservation and it made me want to get up and run to the park to look at birds ans squirrels, which I did. Any book that can do this is a great book, in my opinion.
I loved the book and I also love Gretchen's blog. Actually I was first hooked on the blog and only after that read the book. As happiness studies go it's the most down to earth and applicable that I've seen. I know for sure many of the things Gretchen mentions in her book actually work. for anybody interested in happiness or just in improving themselves, it is an excellent read.
It's one of the best fiction books I've read, if not the best. The reading is absolutely spectacular and it's what gives this book a big part of it's appeal. Loved it from start to finish. It's a great story, with some great twists and it keeps you wanting to read one more page (minute) all through the book.
It started slow, for me, wanted to give up reading a few times but it paid off by the end. The characters and their troubles didn't really resonate with me and it took almost half of book for me to really get into it. But by the end I was quite sad it ended and left me wishing for more. It's not a bad book.
It's a book that makes you think, it had an impact on me and often think about what I've read in it. I was afraid it was going to go into religion, Matthieu Ricard being a Buddhist monk, after all, but it keeps as far away as he can from doing that. It's a great read for anybody interested in happiness.
