too many love scences not enough focus on the mystery of the story.

I love this series, and I enjoyed this book , but it barely tied into this series. It didn't have Thomas Ward or Alice in it at all. But, (again) I enjoyed this story, it could have easily been a stand alone book or in a series about Grimalkin. Another enjoyable character. So, my final opinion is that it is a really good story and I enjoyed it. I'm just looking forward to the next story furthering the situations with Alice and Tom. If you enjoy this series you'll know what I am talking about and if you haven't read the series, it is an interesting series, it's worth a try. I really like it.

I really enjoy this author!! I would love to meet the woman who created so many interesting characters!! She must be amazing herself! To anyone who reads this, when I find a writer that I like a lot , I usually love all they do so my review could be tainted with that overall view. Her stories are just so interesting to me and I love her humor! I read without thinking to about character development , plot line, and literary stuff. I just enjoy a good story and that is what I find in this series and every other series by this author. It makes me smile and that is all I need from a book. I am simple that way and usually easy to please with a good story. Also, I just have to add that I love the character Gilley and I adore the way the narrator does his voice. It's as adorable as he is in the book.

I hope this series keeps going! It truly fascinates me. I just recommended it to 10 of my friends and family without being asked to recommend anything. I don't usually tell anyone that they will like something but I actually stated it like that to all those I have told about it. I think I am in love with the adult Arlin Bales and he's just a character in a book!! ( Sorry to my sweet husband if he reads this review and figures out it's me)

Woe, I didn't see that coming!!! This was a great book to listen to and if you have listen to any of Mr. Bohjalian's other books you know he doesn't give you a typical "skipping away with daisies, la, la, la, la, la" ending. I love it when an author can jolt me with an ending!!!

This is one scary book. I really enjoyed it. I love to listen to scary stories, especially when I am home alone! This one was a good one! I really like the way the mystery builds and instills a sense of fright, making you want to yell "run, stupid".

All I can say is yuck, or maybe gross and because there is a minimum you have to type for a review to post , I wrote this as well. Just in my opinion the book is worthless and I didn't even get very far into the story. I just could not listen to the story. Sorry to anyone that is offended by my review, it is only my opinion. (That and 5$ will get you a small cup of coffee in today's economy)

I am not usually a science fiction fan because I always seem to lose the trail of crumbs to follow the author lays down for me, but this book surprised me! I found it easy to keep up with whose who and still picture the world Ms. Hobb's created. Well write and well read, and just a little sad. I cried a couple of times and expect to cry during the second book. I am an avid animal lover and love the added connection to dogs in this book of coarse they are the same reason I cried! I can't begin to tell anyone else wether or not they will like this book, but I sure did.

This is such an interesting story! It is different from anything else I have ever heard. It was scary and sweet and beautifully narrated!!!! It is such a great story!!!!!

I really enjoy all of the Pendergast stories but I do believe this was my favorit. I am looking forward to the next one.

I really enjoyed Stewart's truth series and now I am so glad she is writing a new mercy series. I enjoy the characters and the mysteries involved in her stories. I also like the side love stories she adds in and it's nice that the mysteries are the main focus of the books.
