Would you try another book from Linda Howard and/or Franette Liebow?

I love Linda Howard, but it is PAINFUL to listen to this narrator!! I'm honestly angry right now because I can't even finish the first chapter because her voice is like nails on a chalkboard! Is she TRYING to sound like a nervous 90 year old lady???

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

    don't know! can't finish!!

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Franette Liebow?

    ANYONE!

In 1976, a mysterious "Inner Voice" spoke to Helen Schucman, dictating what would come to be known as A Course in Miracles - a spiritual classic that would go on to sell over two million copies and influence countless people worldwide. Those who study this 1,333-page course can struggle for years to progress through its resonant but often difficult-to-comprehend truths.

Where does Living a Course in Miracles rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Somewhere at the top :) I am obsessed with anything pertaining to ACIM right now and have listened to many of Marianne Williamson's audios. I wanted to try someone new and I'm so glad I did!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Living a Course in Miracles?

When this guy starts talking my first thought was "Bueller? Bueller? Bueller? After a while it became "Hi! I'm Tom Bodet and we'll leave the light on for you!". For a while there I didn't know if I could listen and then I started getting his dry sense of humor and I began to love him! His kind of droning slow speech has totally grown on me and I love listening to him!

Which character – as performed by Jon Mundy Ph.D. – was your favorite?

    n/a

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

    n/a

    Any additional comments?

Love this book! Love this author! I will be looking for something else from him as soon as I finish this one!

Tammy has always tried to be prepared for any calamity life might send her way but she never imagined a sexy, lion man-beast in her future. He’s stalking closer, growling at her, and she’s too terrified to even flee. Valiant hates humans. But when he gets a whiff of the adorable human female who has invaded his territory, he starts rethinking. Her fear scents of pure, sweet temptation and the closer he gets, the more appealing she becomes. Once he’s got his hands on her, he isn’t about to let her go. One thought will change his life. What did you like best about Valiant? What did you like least?

    great character

Would you be willing to try another one of Vanessa Chambers’s performances?

    yes

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    no

    Any additional comments?

The ONLY reason I took the time to write a review is because I can't stand the narrator. WHY does she have to sound like an air-headed valley girl??? even when she's doing some of the male voices! There is nothing more annoying to me!!

When rookie lawyer Jessica Ford gets the call from her boss, John Davenport, the senior partner at the illustrious law firm for which she works, she can tell he is well on his way to being drunk. He needs Jess to meet First Lady Annette Cooper, for whom Davenport is a personal lawyer, at a Washington, D.C., hotel. Jess is thrilled: this high-profile assignment must mean that she's earned her boss's trust and she's on her way to bigger things. But unfortunately, bigger isn't always better.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

the main girl is really annoying. constantly asking dumb questions and seems naïve and slow.

Would you ever listen to anything by Karen Robards again?

yes. I usually like her stuff.

Would you be willing to try another one of Franette Liebow’s performances?

no. seriously annoying voices. WHY does she purposely pitch her voice all high and wobbly?? when she's just narrating it's ok, but all her "voices" are horrible!

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

it had potential, but there were too many loooooong boring slow places where the story seemed to take forever to progress. and just too many of those situations where you're rolling your eyes at the obviously dumb choices of the characters.

Three years ago, Dare returned home to rural western Montana and opened a hunting business to rival Angie’s. Complicating matters is the fact that Dare has asked Angie out (not once but twice) and has given her a gift of butterflies in the process. Angie has no patience for butterflies. They only lead to foolish decisions. And now the infuriatingly handsome Iraq war vet has siphoned away Angie’s livelihood, forcing her to close up shop. Before Angie is to leave town, she organizes one last trip into the wilderness....

    What disappointed you about Prey?

The narration and descriptions of the thought processes of the characters was PAINFULLY slow. It seemed to go on and on. It would say the same basic thing over and over again just saying it in a different way. It felt like I was listening forever and NOTHING had really happened! I love Linda Howard usually, but I could hardly get through this. I liked the basic idea of the story and it could have been good -but it could have/should have been told in a fraction of the time. It was as if she was just deliberately trying to make it longer or something.

What was most disappointing about Linda Howard’s story?

The story seemed to be deliberately dragged out for some reason.

What about Abby Craden’s performance did you like?

I had no problem with the narrator.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The story had potential but the issues I already stated ruined it.

  • After the Night

"Of all of my novels, After the Night remains one of my personal favorites – and Faith Devlin and Gray Rouillard are two of my favorite characters. Faith is strong, proud, and fearless, and Gray – well, he’s just downright sexy. Faith’s search for the truth about the devastating scandal surrounding her mother and Gray’s father blazes with intrigue. Add some sultry Southern hear, and you’ve got a real scorcher of a listen." What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Ok- Gray may be “sexy” but he’s a narrow minded, self-important ass! I can’t stand the family with all their self-centered entitlement issues. I can’t sympathize with their sad story at all. They’re cold and cruel and think the world revolves around them. I don’t feel bad for them and I freaking HATE Gray for buying into it enough to persecute an innocent person in a pathetic attempt to “protect” his horrible mother and sisters! I couldn’t listen anymore…

Has After the Night turned you off from other books in this genre?

    No. I usually enjoy them.

Have you listened to any of Natalie Ross’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    She was fine.

What character would you cut from After the Night?

    all but the main girl!
