Until the day I met John Smith, Number Four, I'd been on the run alone, hiding and fighting to stay alive. Together, we are much more powerful. But it could only last so long before we had to separate to find the others.... I went to Spain to find Seven, and I found even more, including a tenth member of the Garde who escaped from Lorien alive. Ella is younger than the rest of us, but just as brave. Now we're looking for the others - including John. But so are they....

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I'd recommend this audiobook. We were awaiting the release of this book. Get the others in the series if you haven't already.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My son loves number 9. My favorite is 6. Probably the gender thing. We both like to see bravery but also some uniqueness in a hero.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

There were actually 3 narrators. My husband and son and I thought 2 were good but that the other sounded odd in some characters.

    Any additional comments?

The movie was pretty good, near to the book.

This true modern masterpiece is built around the two fateful words that make up the title and herald the end - “Alas, Babylon.” When a nuclear holocaust ravages the United States, a thousand years of civilization are stripped away overnight, and tens of millions of people are killed instantly. But for one small town in Florida, miraculously spared, the struggle is just beginning, as men and women of all backgrounds join together to confront the darkness....

Where does Alas, Babylon rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

One of my favorites, because I love post-apocalyptic stories and this one tells it without the grim depressed feeling so many others have.

What did you like best about this story?

The characters in the story are courageous, real and flawed. Not predictable.

Have you listened to any of Will Patton’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    No.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. Not that intense that you couldn't stop for the night. But I never lacked interest in what would happen next.

There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

Where does 14 rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Until I read Ender's Game, I never read science fiction. But lately I've been trying different authors and this one is pretty good. I wish somebody had indicated how bad the foul language was, though. I read other people's reviews before I choose and that is something that some of us want to know.

What does Ray Porter bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I think the narrator does a really good job of distinguishing the characters of different gender and age.

    Any additional comments?

For me, the foul language really ruined it. The character Roger doesn't seem to know any words other than f***. Now I can't lend this to my teen sons, which is half of why we sprung for an audible membership.
