I have been enjoying this unique premise of a gentleman eschewing the Ton for personal reasons, and then the adventures they encounter as love brings them back, more or less, to the world they left. And it was time Cross stopped wallowing in the past!
Getting even at the rival "hell", by using the ex-fiance. What a stroke of genius, and the Earl sounded so innocent, every time he made a loud suggestion.
When Phillippa Marbury firsts meets Cross in his office, and propositions him.
As I have vision problems I really look forward to the audio version of books and this one was perfect! At points I had to pause as I was crying so much, which I haven't done for a long time. My thanks to both author and reader.
I'd compare this book most closely to Acheron -- it's amazing how Ms Kenyon went back and told the story during the same time period yet was able to convincingly show a completely different point of view. Kudos!
I enjoyed when Artemis joined the group planning to overthrow the Atlantean -- her mixed up phrases always make me chuckle. But the very best scene was when Apollo was delivered to Appolyme.
I cried every time Styx was betrayed by those he considered family.
This was a hard book to put down once started and yet I was so sad when I finished. One of the best of the Dark Hunter series.
