I read this book quite a few years ago. It's remarkable how long ago this book was written, and just how many thoughtful predictions were made. We'll have to wait quite a few years to see if they all bear out. You'd be cheating yourself if you didn't give this a chance.
My second time through this book. It held up as well as the first time. To the readers who think most fantasy and sci-fi book are just to much into all the geek speak, and tech, this is a fine choice. It is a love story with a twist. And yes, it does fall into it's assigned genre. Great performance, and a fine listen.
If even part of this story is true, it is just as stunning as it's title. I don't have any reason to doubt the writer, and had I not heard other tales about scientology, I would be doubtful. Even if the writer amplified some of her experiences at a very young age, what is alleged here is nothing short of shocking. If this organization is still tax exempt, it is an offense to us all.
A fantastic story, with the sort of detail and character development that King is well known for. I found it difficult to put down. Wasson does a great job with the narration and characterization. I don't want to give away any details, but fans of King's other works might find a familiar surprise or two.
If you're new to King's work, and maybe not so much into the usual Sci-Fi and fantasy works, I can't think of a better choice than this book.
I downloaded this book at about 3PM, and thought I'd listen for an hour or so. Here it is now, about 7PM, and I can't seem to stop. Yes, I did stop to write the review, but I'll be right back listening just after I'm done here. Jobs is as close to an Edison as we will know in our lifetimes. Not a Tesla, nor a Pharnsworth. That job was originally held by Wozniak. And if you don't know the aforementioned inventors, you should.
If you have any interest at all in this tale, I dare say it's worth your time. Even if it falls off a cliff from here (doubful) I'd consider it well worth the money. Reader and story work well together. And I can't wait to hear what happens next. Gotta go!
For the fantasy and SciFi fans out there, this is well worth your time. The Audiobook is as well produced as any I have experienced. And I enjoyed this experience very much. I look forward to the following volume.
One note to the publisher, and to audible, you give away a significant spoiler about Shallan in the last paragraph of the description. I only realized this after I completed this book. It should be removed, as it gives away far too much.
