We colonized 700 planets. Humankind enjoyed the benefits of expansion room and the end of wars. We even disbanded our military. Then the Krall found us. The Krall have used thousands of years of combat to select the genes of the strongest and fastest warriors. They are a species determined to dominate the entire galaxy, through destruction and annihilation of every opponent.

Koban is an uninhabited high-gravity planet with impossibly fast savage animals, which employ organic superconducting nerves. This deadly world is where the Krall tested humans for war capability.

Would you listen to Koban again? Why?

Yes cause it set up for a what I beleive will be a great series

What was one of the most memorable moments of Koban?

The first fight the captain had on Koban

    Which scene was your favorite?

Not one particular scene but the "plans" the kobani were making to survive

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Unfortunatly no. The narrator took a little getting used to. The science used early on was a bit out of my league and the book didn't take off til about 8 hours in. It kept hinting at the awesomness that was to come, it just took awhile to get there

    Any additional comments?

    Well worth its painful start

Where does Blood Song rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It captured me in the first five minutes. Honestly one of the best books I have listened to. From the story to the narrator it is a great book. Super bummed the next one doesn't come out til July

Who was your favorite character and why?

Vaelin of course. You get introduced to him as this horrible destroyer of nations but then the story of his life begins and you really end up rooting for him

Have you listened to any of Steven Brand’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

First book he has narrated but he is easy to listen to

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No extrem reaction other than listening to it non stop (not literally but I went through it in about 3 days)

    Any additional comments?

Audible make sure you pic the rest of the series up as soon as they are released so i can buy them

If you could sum up Shattered Hourglass in three words, what would they be?

    Good but different

What about Jay Snyder’s performance did you like?

I couldn't tell whether this was the same narrator from the previous 2 books, his voice sounded way off from previous work.

    Any additional comments?

I LOVED the first two books in the series, I enjoyed them more for the "Journal" approach the author used to tell his story. The third book, though very good to read, was told in more of "Play" format, where the narrator uses to different voices for the different characters. I did love the book and the narrator but this book felt as if if was written by a different author and read by jay snyder's little brother. Good book, great series, just not what I was expecting or hoping for. The author had a great recipe for a novel and jus went another route on this one

I saw this book at a book store and kinda glanced over it. Then when browsing on here i saw it again and after reading another customers review i decided to give it a shot. It honestly had me hooked after the first 5 minutes. A great buy for anyone looking for a good epic fantasy novel.
