It's very well orated which made it worth listening to. The actual story isn't the writers best work. Seemed a bit like a short story written to a sci-fi magazine contest.
Yes. Of course.
The alien intelligent life form, Ed
It was just very fun to listen to this man read. I commute 2 hrs each day and its nice to hear a voice so seemlessly slip between characters.
The narrator has an amazing ability to switch voices and is very consistent. By the time you are an hour in you realize you know who is speaking every time because he has a special voice for EVERYONE! SO GREAT!
All if them. He gets them each spot on.
No. Too long. I commute but when I get home or to work I for sure don't want to stop! I try to at least get to the end of the
Chapter so I will often be seen in my driveway for ten minutes before I come in (better speakers on my audio system than iPhone)
I was worried since I've seen all seasons this far. But SO curious as to how someone could read this and make it believable since the story has such a wide variety of characters. Roy Dotrice absolutely amazes me. He switches characters flawlessly and his voice is so pleasant. He somehow is even able to catch the voice of children and women in a believable way even tho he has a very masculine voice. Obviously he doesn't sound like a girl. But having seen the shows I can picture easily each character. At first I didn't like Tyrian L and Little Finger voices because they don't remind me of the show. Bit I'm almost through first book of five available of book one, and I'm used to it now. In fact got used to it very fast. He is simply amazing! He's the type I wish had been my uncle because I would have loved growing up listening to him telling stories.
The narration! I bought another one just for that reason. He is so fabulous with voices, tones, inflections and such. Never a dull moment.
I plan to listen to all of the Odd Thomas books because of this narrator then find any others he narrates and buy those. I have a long commute and it's refreshing to listen to someone as talented as this narrator.
The irony. The information which came across as entertaining, funny and ironic yet sad all at he same time. I also love listening to him read. He's so dry and a bit self deprecating which makes him likable.
His true "voice". He helps the reader feel irony or sadness or whatever the emotion he's trying to convey, in the way he reads
Just loved this book. So much that I bought "Them" which unfortunately I didn't like half as much. Maybe the subject matter just didn't appeal to me a much as this book did.
Not necessarily. Only in that I got to drive while enjoying it.
Pell. Not my favorite per se but the narrator did a very good job on his character!
He is fabulous! He captures the characters , has a wide range of inflection, making it both enjoyable and easy to follow. My first book by this author had a different man and I was so disappointed that I returned it! Thank goodness we can do that. This was definitely worth the money.
No. Not really that kind of a book.
Just that i would absolutely buy this narrator again. The Harry Bosch novels have been a favorite of mine and after having been SO DISAPPOINTED in the narrator of The Black Box, my faith in audio books is restored
