"Terrific"
I'm so glad I found the Game of Thrones series (thanks to HBO). The characters are vibrant, the world they inhabit is compelling, and the complex political intrigues that George RR Martin spins for them are endlessly interesting. The narration in this book is fantastic as well - Roy Dotrice does an excellent job of conveying the personality of each character.
"Great story, disappointing narration"
The fourth volume of this series offers a great continuation to the game of thrones storyline - but for some reason they switched narrators. This is a shame - John Lee's performance is overly theatrical, and relies too much on awkward pauses and changes of tone that distract from the storyline and don't convey much personality. I sorely missed Roy Dotrice.

There are so many characters and such a large world in this storyline that you may wish to download maps and lists of characters.

"Should have hired a professional reader"
I'm only about a half hour in to this listen, but I'm not sure I can go any further -- the narrator (the author himself) is so bad as to be almost unbearable. Sounds like a grade 4 student reading in front of his class.
"Aging, but still enjoyable"
Although some of Haleman's predictions of the future seem a bit silly now (government-mandated homosexuality to control population, for example) and its pacifist message doesn't have as strong an impact as other efforts, this remains a thoroughly enjoyable yarn. Fun in the same way that other 1950s-1970s future-predictions are fun.
"Passable"
Though overhyped and much, much too long, there's enough here to keep you tuned in for the full 20 hours of narration.
"A must-read for fans of futuristic dystopias"
Bacigalupi offers a plausible vision of the future as a world ruined by greed and ambition. Lushly descriptive and imaginative. The title is a bit inappropriate and the story could have been edited down in a few places, but it is an outstanding read that will long occupy my thoughts. The narration was great too -- well worth your credit.
"Readers beware - propaganda alert"
Did a religious group pay Koontz to crank out this bit of propaganda? What little plot there is wobbles atop one misunderstanding (or outright lie, maybe?) after another until it collapses completely near the end. Koontz has no business writing about science or theology - his perception is so flawed and biased that I'm tempted to start sending him textbooks. Get thee an education, mister. Won't bother reader another DK, that's for sure.
"Fabulous!"
Well worth your time and credit. I found this story really interesting; I want more!
