The accident was tragic, yes. Bloody and horrific and claiming the life of a beautiful young sorority girl. Nicole was a straight-A student from a small town. Sweet-tempered, all-American, a former Girl Scout, and a virgin. But it was an accident. And that was last year. It’s fall again, a new semester, a fresh start.

I somewhat agree with the others when they complain about the author, her voice is annoying, and specifically the voice she did for Josie was awful. But this book is soooo long that after a few hrs I became numb to her weird lilts and odd accent.
The story itself feels so unfinished! I finished this book a few days ago, and it is still bothering me that it wasn't concluded... I don't need authors to always spell out the ending and hand it to me with a pretty pink bow... but in the case of this book she didn't even really end it. There is the huge mystery of the girl dying, or did she die? This is what the entire story is about, but it is never really answered. There are many ppl involved in trying to figure this out, and you get their opinions and conclusions, but nothing is concrete. And in the meantime these sorority girls are ruining the lives of ppl around them, including their profs. And there is this whole thing about virgins who are really sluts, and we all know that guys talk so there is no way that these girls can sleep around like that and still have an entire campus think they are virgins. Its ridiculous. It just droned on and on and on. I only finished it because I wanted to know what happened, but, I'll never know.
Strongly dislike when a book ends without closure. When the ruined lives remain ruined years later. When the "bad guys" never get caught. When the mystery is never solved. It just leaves me feeling empty and unfinished. Bah!

Would you listen to The Golden Lily again? Why?

YES! Because its good. Lol. I love Richelle Mead, I love the characters (ADRIAN!), and I love the narration by Emily Shaffer!!

What other book might you compare The Golden Lily to and why?

I don't like to compare books, each one is crafted with love by the author and deserves to be looked at separately.

    Which scene was your favorite?

Ohhhhhh....the ending. ;) I was on the edge of my seat....oh Adrian!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. Unfortunately I had to split it up over 2 days due to having to live a real life outside of books. Ha!

    Any additional comments?

Richelle Mead is amazing. Emily Shaffer is amazing. You cannot go wrong here!

One choice can transform you - or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves - and herself - while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

What did you love best about Insurgent?

Everything... I loved how it started off right where Divergent left off. I love the relationship between Tris and Four (Tobias), how its not all sunshine and rainbows, but how they are different people who aren't so afraid of being themselves, no matter what that may mean to their relationship. Its a much more realistic relationship than most YA novels. I love the twists and turns and betrayals and unlikely/uneasy alliances..even if I did predict most of them in advance. I loved the big reveal at the end, that I had also predicted. (think "The Village" by M. Night Shyamalan.)

What was one of the most memorable moments of Insurgent?

There isn't any one single thing that comes to mind. I guess most would feel that the most memorable would be finding out who the traitors really are, or the big reveal ending...

What about Emma Galvin’s performance did you like?

I just LOVE her narration. She puts a lot of inflections into her delivery that really get the emotion of a moment across to the listener.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes. But I don't want to give away any spoilers!

    Any additional comments?

I'm a 35 yr old woman, and I LOVE these books (Divergent and Insurgent) sooo much! I cannot wait for the third installment - even if it will be the last. The world and characters within the world created here fascinate me and move me. Veronica Roth is very talented and I cannot wait to read her books for many years to come!

In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue - Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is - she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

Where does Divergent rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

    One of my favorites!

What did you like best about this story?

I love the dystopian world created here, its fascinating to me how the people are segregated into groups that dislike one another, yet rely on one another for the functioning of their society.

Which character – as performed by Emma Galvin – was your favorite?

Tris. Without a doubt she is the hero. A small girl who see herself as selfish and weak, is probably the most selfless and strong and brave character in the whole book.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

I'm not creative enough to come up with one!

    Any additional comments?

I just re-listened to this book, since the 2nd book just came out I wanted to refresh my memory of this world created here. I remember loving it the first time I listened to it over a year ago, but forgot just how MUCH I loved it!
Its predictable in many ways, as to how the story will unfold, but it is carried out with so much heart that you can't not love it!

Ok, I admit I am a sucker for anything paranormal, especially zombies, vampires, and wereanimals. That being said, I get tired of reading the same story over and over again. That is why this book was so fantastic for me. It is a different twist on your typical zombie lore. It doesn't take place in some futuristic time, or start from some mad scientists lab, or some government born pathogen. It starts in present day, then goes back to the 1960, and moves forward from there. A family is driving through snow on their way home one night and finds a dead girl on the side of the road, in her arms is a baby that the family also believe to be dead. This baby is a zombie, but he learns to breathe in order to make noises and speak, he learns to grown and walk. His adoptive family keeps him such a secret, fearing if anyone knew they had him that he would be destroyed. The story follows Stony's "life" and his adventures. Great story. Occasional lags, but mostly quickly paced.

I was upset when the Shifters series ended, so I am pretty happy that Rachel has started a new series for grown ups!
Story is basically about people with supernatural abilities living in the regular world. Of course there are good guys and bad guys and twists and turns and love interests and friendships. I enjoyed this book all the way through. Its not life alteringly fabulous, but it is great entertainment!
The narration was good as well!

This book is simply amazing. Written beautifully... several times I could feel/hear/taste/smell/see everything that was going on. I felt like I was there with Adam. He broke my heart. Mia broke my heart. I listened to this book at work and got really tired of explaining to people WHY I was crying. I cried from sorrow, and joy. I laughed.
I was unsure of this one initially, cause I loved the first one so much. Could it really live up to the original? Absolutely. And seeing it from a different perspective was beyond brilliant!

This series started really strong, but after book 3 I just really felt obligated to finish them all. I am glad this series is over. However, I did enjoy this book more than the last couple. Damen, though Ever loves him, is a horrible character in my opinion. He is controlling and manipulative, not giving Ever any benefit of the doubt, not willing to truly listen to her thoughts and ideas on what they should do to solve the problems that they have created for themselves. When she goes ahead and does what she knows is right, without his blessing, she is triumphant. She has her faults, but she is a smart and strong young woman who perseveres.

And each new place gives her a chance to try out a new persona: from cheerleader to drama diva. But now, for the first time, Mclean discovers a desire to stay in one place and just be herself - whoever that is. Perhaps her neighbor Dave, an academic superstar trying to be just a regular guy, can help her find out.

No matter how hard I try I cannot get enough Sarah Dessen! Each and every single one of her characters feel real. Each and every book has touched my heart.
Mclean is probably one of my favorite characters though. She is a girl whose parents are divorced, and she is living with her traveling father, staying in each city, and school, just a few months at a time. Each time they land somewhere new she changes her name and reinvents herself. I love the idea of the 'fresh start' she does with each move.

Three angels - Gabriel, the warrior; Ivy, the healer; and Bethany, the youngest and most human - are sent by Heaven to bring good to a world falling under the influence of darkness. They work hard to conceal their luminous glow, superhuman powers, and, most dangerous of all, their wings, all the while avoiding all human attachments. Then Bethany meets Xavier Woods, and neither of them is able to resist the attraction between them.

This is a simple book. Its, as others have said, Twilight with angles instead of Vampires. The main character, Bethany, seems far too clueless and dependent on her human boyfriend. Overall I did enjoy it. Nice fantasy world to escape to for a few hours while I was at work. Once I found out that the author was only 17 when she wrote this book everything made more sense. Lol. Author is also the narrator, and I think she did a very good job. Her voice was enjoyable.
