Emperor Mollusk. Intergalactic Menace. Destroyer of Worlds. Conqueror of Other Worlds. Mad Genius. Ex-Warlord of Earth. Not bad for a guy without a spine. But what's a villain to do after he's done... everything. With no new ambitions, he's happy to pitch in and solve the energy crisis or repel aliens invaders should the need arise, but if he had his way, he'd prefer to be left alone to explore the boundaries of dangerous science. Just as a hobby, of course. Retirement isn't easy though.

I generally enjoy A. Lee Martinez books, this has been my favorite along the lines of Gil's All Fright Diner. One thing that makes this books so enjoyable is the Reader, Scott Aiello. He did an exceptional job.

Duke and Earl are just passing through Rockwood county in their pick-up truck when they stop at the Diner for a quick bite to eat. They aren't planning to stick around-until Loretta, the eatery's owner, offers them $100 to take care of her zombie problem. Given that Duke is a werewolf and Earl's a vampire, this looks right up their alley. But the shambling dead are just the tip of a particularly spiky iceberg.

Serge is back with a bullet, torn between homicide and souvenirs. So is Coleman, torn between getting hammered and getting more hammered. Then there's good ol' Jim Davenport, the E-Team, the Diaz Brothers, and Johnny Vegas, the Accidental Virgin, cranking up the fevered action as the pot boils over on a street called Lobster Lane.

    This book is great.
Perhaps its because of the great reading?
Maybe because of the reappearance of Old beloved characters?
    Could be the surprise ending?
It might be the unrelenting pace?
How about the timely natural Phenomenon?

In any case, I Love This Book!

Sunshine State trivia buff Serge A. Storms loves eliminating jerks and pests. His drug-addled partner Coleman loves cartoons. Hot stripper Sharon Rhodes loves cocaine, especially when purchased with rich dead men's money. On the other hand, there's Sean and David, who love fishing and are kind to animals - and who are about to cross paths with a suitcase filled with $5 million in stolen insurance money. Serge wants the suitcase. Sharon wants the suitcase. Coleman wants more drugs... and the suitcase.

I would never Mistake a Tim Dorsey Novel for a Hiaasen! If anyone does they are not paying attention. Mr. Dorseys characterizations are so wild and wacky they could be real, but only if you believe that truth is stranger than fiction.

If you are offended easily or dont like creative killings, this is not for you.

If you have said "i have a sense of humor and this is not funny", this is not for you.

If you believe that freedom of speech should only go so far, this is not for you.

Any or all of Tim Dorseys books will make just about anybody with a real sense of humor smile and cringe and spit milk out of your nose while you say i can see that as a newspaper story.

Cassie Wright, porn priestess, intends to cap her legendary career by breaking the world record for serial fornication. On camera. With 600 men. Snuff unfolds from the perspectives of Mr. 72, Mr. 137, and Mr. 600, who await their turn on camera in a very crowded green room. This wild, lethally funny, and thoroughly researched novel brings the huge yet underacknowledged presence of pornography in contemporary life into the realm of literary fiction at last. Who else but Chuck Palahniuk would dare do such a thing? Who else could do it so well, so unflinchingly, and with such an incendiary (you might say) climax?

I have read or listened to most of chuck's work and this is very much in keeping with his quirky observations of human interaction, experience and information.

It is a short sweet tale of what happens on the set of a porn film. I found it Clear and with a very strong plot. I dont know what the other reviewers listened to or what they were doing when they tried to listen.
The book is very good, it reminds me of Survivor a bit.

Sophie Kinsella's debut is a romp through the perils of shopping and spending, spending, spending! Becky can't resist a sale, and she's only a little overdrawn on her VISA. Readers will laugh aloud at Becky's retail adventures as she finds new and creative ways to relieve her increasingly credit card debt. Emily Gray's narration bounces along with Becky and her buying whims, while delivering a humorous account of what happens when credit goes bad.
