Cavanaugh, a former member of Delta Force, is hired by a brilliant scientist named Prescott who needs protection from a drug lord seeking the highly addictive drug he has invented. At least that is what Cavanaugh is led to believe. After Cavanaugh trains the scientist in escape and evasion, the unthinkable occurs: Cavanaugh's team is viciously attacked and entirely wiped out - and Prescott seems to be in collusion with the attackers.

Barbara A. Russell says: "Excellent story, not a dull moment."
    "Morrell is Swell!"
    Overall

The Protector is one of those books that grabs your undivided attention from the start. It is a "page turner" except of course, it is audio. The characters stay in trouble from the first page to the last and it gets a bit redundant after awhile, but if you enjoy action with "no bars held"...you will love this one.

Gave this unusual story 5 stars for keeping me on the edge of my seat in anticipation of what will come next. This book is full of surprises and one of the best I've read/listened to.

In one way or another, everybody abused Carrie. Her fanatical mother forbade this 16-year-old misfit everything that was young and fun. She was teased and taunted by her classmates, misunderstood by her teachers, and given up as hopeless by almost everyone.

    Montilee says: "Wow. Just wow."
"Obviously one of King's FIRST books"
    Overall

Even though this book has been around for several years, that does not mean it is noteworthy. I was excited about getting started with Carrie and was even more excited about it coming to an end. The book has it's moments and the reader did a good job but if I had to listen to one more "Momma" I would have commited hari-kari.

For most of her young life, 13-year-old Angel Sullivan has been on the outside looking in, enduring the taunts of cruel schoolmates and the angry abuse of a bitter father. Then Angel's family moves to the quaint town of Roundtree, Massachusetts, where a charming home is available, a promising job awaits Angel's unemployed father, and most of all, the chance to make a new start beckons to the shy, hopeful teenager.

    Irene says: "Twist of Fate"
"A good read on a rainy afternoon."
    Overall

John Saul tells a tale that does not require profound thought to enjoy. This whimsical story will grab you since many, if not most of us, have been bullied at sometime in our lives. In this book...the little guy wins and is refreshing to say the least. Much of the plot is predictable but does have a few twists and turns to keep you involved in the plot. I say, "Get this book, read it and move on."

  • The Jester

Hugh De Luc, a poor innkeeper, returns home from the First Crusade wearied from battle and disillusioned by carnage. After journeying from the Holy Land back to his own small village, he finds his nightmare is just beginning.

Sheridan Race says: "Spellbound and engaged"
    "James Patterson at his best!"
    Overall

If you are a James Patterson fan as I am, you will really like this book! Patterson moves away from his usual detective-murder mystery, into a whole new realm with "The Jester". This is one of those books that will gain your attention immediately and you will have a hard time closing the book/audio for the night. The story flows in a perfect manner and the characters will pull at your heart strings and bad guys will make you want to commit murder yourself. If you enjoy it half as much as I did then you will be well entertained.
