In the frigid pre-dawn hours, in a distressed Midwestern city, hundreds of desperate unemployed folks are lined up for a spot at a job fair. Without warning, a lone driver plows through the crowd in a stolen Mercedes, running over the innocent, backing up, and charging again. Eight people are killed; fifteen are wounded. The killer escapes. Mr. Mercedes is a war between good and evil, from the master of suspense whose insight into the mind of this obsessed, insane killer is chilling and unforgettable.

The best book I have read from Mr. King. I couldn't put it down, and with Will Patton as narrator all I can say is, "wow". What a great listen from the get go through the very end. I really liked that the book was current. timely and was a real thriller with great characters. Mr. King is truly a master storyteller and you cannot do better than this book. I was immediately sucked in and was in for an enthralling read. Hated to see it end! Just a fantastic read..I don't think it would have been nearly as good without reading it on audible.com.

A hiker finds a journal deep inside a glacier that was lost during World War II. On its frozen pages are etched the secret locations of treasures lost since the 1940s. But something more ominous is scribed in the journal, something that threatens the Presidency of the United States.

What a great read! Plenty of plot twists, turns and surprises. The main character, Jake, is very skilled but also from time to time shows that he is human. The author built suspense and did not divulge the importance of "the book" until the end; plenty of intrigue at the highest level. I didn't want the book to end...and will definitely look for more from this author.

Scott Brick is one of our favorite readers and, again, did not disappoint. Thank you, Mr. Brick.

It's just a small story really, about, among other things, a girl, some words, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist-fighter, and quite a lot of thievery. Set during World War II in Germany, Markus Zusak's groundbreaking new novel is the story of Liesel Meminger, a foster girl living outside of Munich. Liesel scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can't resist: books.

I enjoyed the audible book through the first half. By the second part the book began to resemble all those other "holocaust" stories and I don't think I will be able to wade through the retelling. Yes, it was horrible. Yes, it needs to be remembered. But, sometimes we have to let history be history and not be constantly reminded of this horrible time. The story started in a most unique manner, moved along pretty good..then became redundant. I am Jack's wife, so this is not Jack's take; however, he said he would not be interested in another holocaust story. There are so many great books to read.

The recipient of Edgar, Anthony, and Macavity Awards, New York Times best-selling author C. J. Box has won almost every honor in his field. In Breaking Point, Wyoming game warden Joe Pickett is glad to catch up with old friend Lyle Pendergast, but then the man goes missing and is named a suspect in the death of two EPA employees. All signs point to Lyle’s guilt, but the more Joe digs into the case, the more he realizes he’s stepped into the middle of a deadly power play.

Another good Joe Pickett adventure. We have read all the books in this series and felt like this one quit a chapter or two too early, with many loose ends for the next book to resolve. Anyone reading this book would certainly be left wondering what happened to key players. This book ends like a "soap opera". However, the reader was excellent! and I will be waiting for the continuing saga.

Six years have passed since Jake Fisher watched Natalie, the love of his life, marry another man. Six years of hiding a broken heart by throwing himself into his career as a college professor. Six years of keeping his promise to leave Natalie alone, and six years of tortured dreams of her life with her new husband, Todd. But six years haven’t come close to extinguishing his feelings, and when Jake comes across Todd’s obituary, he can’t keep himself away from the funeral. There he gets the glimpse of Todd’s wife he’s hoping for...but she is not Natalie....

I usually really enjoy this author...but, this story was difficult to keep on reading. Very slow for the first half of the book then the story line moved along a bit faster. The story was just interesting enough to have to finish in order to see what happened. It felt like it took six years to read. As usual, Scott Brick read the character excellently but the story was just not satisfying.

On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

What a thrilling ride with unexpected twists and new characters all along--well developed. Couldn't wait to finish this book. Highly recommend the first two books in this "series". Well written and researched. A good look into the KGB, their ruthlessness and the change possible in some. Near the end, however, the author has a character watching the sun go down from "Brighton Beach."-- did the author forget that the Atlantic is facing east from this area? Perhaps I misunderstood. Highly recommend this book.

What happened to the ending? The story was rolling along until half way through, oops, it stopped. It seemed the author could not think how to end this book. Great reader, though.
