Steven Pressfield is the internationally best-selling author of Gates of Fire and Tides of War. An epic of love and war, Last of the Amazons is a gripping, imaginative novel of the ancient world filled with Pressfield’s trademark extraordinary attention to detail. In the time before Homer, the legendary Theseus, king of Athens, journeys to the nation of proud female warriors whom the Greeks called Amazons.

Would you consider the audio edition of Last of the Amazons to be better than the print version?

    I think so

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The Amazons and the battle. Least would be the characters form of story tellers.

What about the narrators’s performance did you like?

There are several and they were all good.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    The Amazons!

Black ops squad KiloFive find their loyalties tested beyond breaking point when the father of their Spartan comrade, still searching for the truth about her disappearance, prepares to glass Earth's cities to get an answer.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

A completely different author that had some understanding of the Halo story. Author who didnt destroy a great story she was handed.

What do you think your next listen will be?

It wont be anything from Karen Traviss!

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Narrator wasnt bad but I dont think everyone will have English accents several hundred years into the future nevermind the English slang but that is also the work of a terrible author, Karen Traviss.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

NO! I didnt even want to buy it because Karen Traviss' previous Halo books were also terrible. But I thought that Microsoft/343 would be releasing something in the main Halo story line. That was also a NO! Not worth it.

    Any additional comments?

I hope Microsoft/343 get a real author for the next Halo series.

  • The Outpost: An Untold Story of American Valor

At 6:00 a.m. on the morning of October 3, 2009, Combat Outpost Keating was viciously attacked by Taliban insurgents. The 53 U.S. troops, having been stationed at the bottom of three steep mountains, were severely outmanned by nearly 400 Taliban fighters. Though the Americans ultimately prevailed, their casualties made it one of the war's deadliest battles for U.S. forces. And after more than three years in that dangerous and vulnerable valley a mere 14 miles from the Pakistan border, the U.S. abandoned and bombed the camp.

Would you listen to The Outpost again? Why?

Absolutely and plan to. True Army story put forth in a very real interpretation.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Outpost?

There were many that me proud to be a fellow Cavalry Scout.

Have you listened to any of Rob Shapiro’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Dont think Ive listened to his other books. I would prefer a professional narrator to understand how to accurately say the terms, slang and names that were important for the portrayal.

Any military person could tell him that a POG is pronounced like POUGE and not Pog. Or correct pronounciation of Soldier's names especially those who are well known for having received the Medal of Honor for the very actions your describing.

All in all not bad just some little things that easily could and should have been fixed.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Anytime a Soldier dies for their country. Also when Soldiers embody the Warrior Spirit bring the fight to the enemy

    Any additional comments?

Great for veterans, active duty, civilians, historians etc

Welcome to humanity’s new war: silent, high stakes, and unseen. This is a life-or-death mission for ONI’s black-ops team, Kilo-Five, which is tasked with preventing the ruthless Elites, once the military leaders of the Covenant, from regrouping and threatening humankind again. What began as a routine dirty-tricks operation?keeping the Elites busy with their own insurrection?turns into a desperate bid to extract one member of Kilo-Five from the seething heart of an alien civil war.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The author is terrible. I dont care what she wrote before or her supposed experience. Her books are the only Halo books I cannot read/listen to once. I only read them for the Halo story updates.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Halo books from any other author

Would you be willing to try another one of Euan Morton’s performances?

Narator does a good job. No problem with him.

Could you see Halo: The Thursday War being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

    Not with the author.

    Any additional comments?

    Bring back Eric Nylund!!!!

Dubbed the American Tolkien by Time magazine, George R. R. Martin has earned international acclaim for his monumental cycle of epic fantasy. Now the number-one New York Times best-selling author delivers the fifth book in his spellbinding landmark series - as both familiar faces and surprising new forces vie for a foothold in a fragmented empire.

Why we think it’s a great listen: It’s easy to say that when it comes to sci-fi you either love it or you hate it. But with Ender’s Game, it seems to be you either love it or you love it.... The war with the Buggers has been raging for a hundred years, and the quest for the perfect general has been underway for almost as long. Enter Andrew "Ender" Wiggin, the result of decades of genetic experimentation.

The planet is called Banshee. The air is unbreathable, the water poisonous. It is the home of the most implacable enemies that humanity, in all its interstellar expansion, has ever encountered. Felix is a scout in A-team Two. Highly competent, he is the sole survivor of mission after mission. Yet he is a man consumed by fear and hatred.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

It started off interesting but stalled for a while in the middle. I almost stopped listening to it there but I pushed on. It picked up closer to the ending and made the book worth listening to.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Definitly some interesting aspects of the story. I would've focused on Felix's personal story more and much much less of Jack Crow's. Jack Crow didnt compliment Felix's character only drew away from the main story of the book.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

No complaints. Did a good job.

Could you see Armor being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

    I think it could be.

He adapts to the cultures and terrains of distant outposts. But with each month in space, years are passing on Earth. Where will he call home when (and if) the Forever War ends?

What disappointed you about The Forever War?

The title should be Hippies in Space. Military aspect was rediculous and completely unrealistic. If you have any actual military experience you probably wont like this book. Cant believe it received any awards.

What could Joe Haldeman have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
