I enjoy getting lost in a great book! My favorites are eclectic, horror, romance, kids books with a few autobiographies thrown in for fun!

  • The Sookie Stackhouse Companion

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 55 mins)
    • By Charlaine Harris
    • Narrated By Johanna Parker, Laurie Birmingham, Christina Moore, and others

Fans of Charlaine Harris’ best-selling Sookie Stackhouse novels will find much to enjoy in this companion to the immensely popular series. Included are a never-before-published novella and an exclusive interview with Alan Ball, creator of HBO’s True Blood. Sookie herself guides listeners on a tour of Bon Temps, gives them a peek at the werewolf and werepanther communities, provides a glimpse of her best friend Tara’s dress shop, and offers a look at Merlotte’s - the bar where Sookie earns her living.

Daniel says: "Short story is OK. But this isn't worth a credit"
"Well, what do we have here/hear"
Where does The Sookie Stackhouse Companion rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I would rate this book at a 5 or 6 out of 10 in my ranking of all the books i read so far.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Eric of course :-). But all of the characters are so well written, that they almost jump off the page. It is hard to pick a favorite.

    Which scene was your favorite?

I loved the condenced version of all of the books so far. I wish the book had given a little bit more about the upcoming book,

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No extreme reaction. It was a decent read

    Any additional comments?

I will probably end up buying the hard cover, as I wanted to see the map of Bon Temp as well addition items not coverd in the audio book.

  • The Graveyard Book

    • UNABRIDGED (7 hrs and 47 mins)
    • By Neil Gaiman
    • Narrated By Neil Gaiman
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Why we think it’s a great listen: Gaiman’s not just an award-winning author, but a narrator who earns rave reviews – and fields requests from other authors to perform their books, too! Nobody Owens, known to his friends as Bod, is a normal boy. He would be completely normal if he didn't live in a sprawling graveyard, being raised and educated by ghosts, with a solitary guardian who belongs to neither the world of the living nor of the dead....

Guillermo says: "Masterful Fantasy for the Jaded Heart"
"Great story, I did not know it was a YA novel"

This book was so well written it had a little bit of everything it had suspense, no blood, friendship, family, ghost and children being children. Hats off to you Neil!

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 38 mins)
    • By Peter Clines
    • Narrated By Ray Porter
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

    Charles says: "Completely Engaging"
    "Outstanding read/listen"
What made the experience of listening to 14 the most enjoyable?

This book was written in the form of a movie. I was able to follow along in my mind and see the scenes and watch the action. Voyeurism at its best, and this is one of the best books I have read in a while.

What was one of the most memorable moments of 14?

So many spoilers so little time. The opening of apt. 14, but there are so many other moments that I cannot begin to explain them all.

Have you listened to any of Ray Porter’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is the first time I have listened to Ray Porter. I liked the fact that he did the voices. He only added to the story.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, as a matter of fact, I wanted to not sleep and listen to this book. It is just that good.

    Any additional comments?

Great book. I hope it becomes a movie!

  • Confessions of a Video Vixen

    • UNABRIDGED (5 hrs and 42 mins)
    • By Karrine Steffans
    • Narrated By Karrine Steffans
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Confessions of a Video Vixen is the widely anticipated memoir of Karrine Steffans, the once-sought-after sexy siren who appeared in the music videos of multiplatinum hip hop artists such as Jay-Z, R. Kelly, and LL Cool J. A top-paid video dancer, Karrine transitioned to film when acclaimed director F. Gary Gray picked her to costar in his film A Man Apart, starring Vin Diesel.

Lito Da Critic says: "It ishard to stop listening to this one"
"Oh dear God, to have back the hours..."
What would have made Confessions of a Video Vixen better?

EVERYTHING! I needed to have some soul and depth. It seemed very surface, but the details were ok, but really her try at erotic writing so was not there.

What was most disappointing about Karrine Steffans’s story?

Her writing. Maybe after a few more writting classes, we could get a better story.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

By reading it. I think if she has chosen a narrator other than herself, that would be the ticket
