He is so good that I forgot I was listening to Lou Diamond Phillips. He has great ability to change his voice from character to character.

Maybe it's just me, but I tried 3 times to finish listening to the story, and I just couldn't. The characters didn't grab my attention. I didn't feel any emotion that made me want to continue. And for me personally, there was too much information about the technical aspects. I'm sure some people would appreciate that part, but not me.

If I could give this story more stars than 5, I would. It is a story that held me in its spell the entire time and then afterward as well. I think it may have changed me, although I couldn't say how. It is for women, and about women. You will learn much about the culture and history of China while reading a most beautiful story read by the perfect narrator for this tale.

The first book of this series was amazing, and I liked this one even more! It really helped me understand the history of that era. Ken Follett is a great storyteller. I appreciated the fact that he toned down the intimate scenes a bit. I still was able to feel the emotion of the moment, but to me it's better the way he wrote them in this book. The story line picks up where the last one left off. I recommend reading the Fall of the Giants first. And John Lee is an amazing narrator. He does such a great job with all of the various accents and characters.

I avoided listening to this story for awhile because it wasn't listened to by very many people. Boy, am I glad I finally did. This man's true story of how he went from being a man of violence to a man of God was well told, kept me wanting to hear what happened next and reminded me of how wonderful it is to trust in God and watch Him work through his followers. Reading this book has motivated me to increase my service and trust the Lord with it instead of worrying that I might fail. This is a story the whole family can listen to.

This story was SO good and the narrator Michael Kramer read all of the parts so convincingly, that both he and the author Karen Slaughter are now two of my favorites. The story starts out pretty harsh and this is not a book you would want to listen to in the car with your children. But if you stick with it, I think you'll be glad you did. . . I know I was!

While reading/listening to this story, I could really picture the 1930's in New York. It felt almost like I was there. And the way the author wrote it seemed to really fit with the times. It was also a really good story. The narrator did a great job, she was pleasing to listen to and did great with the various characters.

His voice is so pleasing to listen to and he reads so well. I wish he narrated more good books.

This was a great story, and the narrator superb. The only thing to be forewarned is it's a bit racy, so I wouldn't listen to it on speaker mode with small children.

This was one of my favorite Jack Reacher stories and Dick Hill is so consistently excellent, it was an pleasure to listen to.

I really enjoyed the story, but struggled with listening to it. I'm not sure exactly what it was about the narration, but I did not enjoy it. The voices were of good quality, but not convincing. The man's voice just didn't sound like someone sounds when they're talking to you. The woman didn't vary her characters voices very much, and they all seemed to have a southern accent. Nothing's wrong with a southern accent, mind you, but they shouldn't all have it, unless all the characters come from the South. And sometimes I liked the sound effects of gunshots, etc., but at the end I thought it was overkill when the women moaned in pain, etc.

I had been looking for a good story that also explains how WWI came about, and found it in "Fall of Giants, Book 1". This was my first Ken Follett book, and I really enjoyed the way he tells a story and explains history at the same time. It moved right along and didn't get weighed down in elaborate descriptions that take forever to get through. Yet, he describes things well . . . I really had a good picture in my mind of the characters, scenes, etc. It is true that the main characters reconnect with one another throughout the book in ways that are somewhat unbelievable. I was forgiving of Follett for this because he is such a good storyteller. However, I do hope this feedback reaches the author so he can work on improving this one weak point. Despite this, I still give it five stars. In fact, I liked it so much that I read it twice before moving on to a new book!
