"Loved It!"
I couldn't wait to find another mystery by Alex Grecian, but then found out this was his first. The narrator is one of the best I have heard to date. I loved a period point of view of early forensics and police work, even down to the realization that officers should only travel in pairs. The only reason I didn't give five stars is due to some of the side stories that I could have done without.
Sir Edward
"Least Favorite Book in the Series So Far"
I started the series in order, but skipped the second book due to the plot summary and a couple of reviews. Winter Prey is my absolute favorite so far. This book is the worst I have read in the series up to this point. I did not find any of the new characters interesting. The killer is not particularly intelligent and does not take Lucas on the typical mind game ride. If future books are similar, I will have to stop the series or skip through it.
"My Favorite Prey Book So Far"
I started this series in order, but skipped Book Two (Shadow Prey I think?) because of some reviews and the plot summary. This is my favorite of the series so far. However, if I could do it again, I would skip the next book, Night Prey. This book is the first time you aren't introduced to the identity of the killer up front. Even though I figured it out pretty early on, I wasn't positive, and it was great to have it confirmed toward the end. I really hope he goes back to the format of not identifying the killer in future books.
"Every Man's Worst Nightmare"
The last half was hard to stop listening to. I didn't particularly like the ending, which is the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars.
"Just alright"
It was just mediocre. I didn't have a problem with the accent of Bones. I think it was read as the character was written.
"Pleasantly surprised"
This book kept me interested and on the edge of my seat. I enjoyed all of the characters, and the narration.
"I don't get the hype"
It was jut an average book with an average story. Nothing more, nothing less. I have no idea why this book was such a sensation other than maybe for tweens.
"Main character annoyed me"
I have a very dry and sarcastic sense of humor, which I think is what the author was trying to portray in the main character, but I was annoyed by her. I also didn't think it was funny.
"Mad Max meets Sookie Stackhouse - FANTASTIC"
I've probably gone through 40 to 50 audiobooks in the past five years and this is my favorite out of all genres. I was so disappointed when this book ended, and came here to download the second one before realizing it isn't out yet. What an amazing thrill ride. Loved it!
"Just dull and narrator is wrong for story"
The narrator should be reading bedtime stories or hypnosis books. He uses such a soothing voice that I was afraid to listen sometimes while driving. The narrator did do a good job on the female's voice from Martinique. If I hadn't used a credit on this book, I would not have finished it. The author is too descriptive about technical workings and inanimate objects and does not place enough emphasis on developing the characters or the story. It's highly predictable, but I don't mind predictable. It was just dull. I have probably gone through 40 books in the past year, and this is in the bottom two.
"Everything I had hoped for to end this series"
Lizbeth's time finally comes. This was my favorite of the series, and the perfect ending.
