For more than two thousand years, The Art of War has stood as a cornerstone of Chinese culture, a lucid epigrammatic text that reveals as much about human psychology, politics, and economics as it does about battlefield strategy. The influence of Sun-Tzu's text has grown tremendously in the West in recent years, with military leaders, politicians, and corporate executives alike finding valuable insight in these ancient words.

David says: "Excellent book on tactics and strategy"
    "Enduring classic"
    Overall

The Art of War is excellent. Several of my peers at work recommended it and I so glad I checked it out. Sun Tzu is a master and his teaching are relevant in so many area of my life.

Born in a South Africa divided by racism and hatred, this one small boy will come to lead all the tribes of Africa. Through enduring friendships with Hymie and Gideon, Peekay gains the strength he needs to win out. And in a final conflict with his childhood enemy, the Judge, Peekay will fight to the death for justice.

Bob says: "Compelling story lifted higher by the narration"
    "Outstanding"
    Overall

This was one of the best books I've listened to yet! I found the story of Peekay complex and engaging and the naration was outstanding. Bryce Courteney is superb as a story-teller and I felt transported to Africa. He does a fantistic job of painting a clear picture through both his historical knowledge and the emotional experience of the characters.

The diamonds of Sierra Leone have funded one of the most savage rebel campaigns in modern history. These "blood diamonds" are smuggled out of West Africa and sold to legitimate diamond merchants in London, Antwerp, and New York, often with the complicity of the international diamond industry. Eventually, these very diamonds find their way into the rings and necklaces of brides the world over.

Jan says: "Very bloody and very real."
    "Outstanding"

This was a tragic and compelling story of a child soldier who experiences one tradedy after another, in which circumstance transforms him into a cold blooded killer. The story ripped at my heart strings and Beah's character saturates the story. I look forward to hearing more from this young author.
